Thoughts I Had... whilst staring at "mother!" teaser poster

NATHANIEL R in Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mother, movie posters

Oh my my my. The first poster for Darren Aronofsky's secretive October release mother! has arrived and it's after the jump in all its disturbing detail along with the thoughts I had as they came to me without self-censorship...

When I saw this online I saw Jennifer's face first and was all... how pleasant, a painted poster with perhaps a plaintive look. Jennifer Lawrence's face has always been somewhat opaque so the expression is wonderfully non-revealing.

...and then I scrolled down and shivered once I realized it wasn't a bouquet YIKES. (In my defense I wasn't wearing my glasses)

I'm so hungry right now.

So, it's a horror film? With a painted poster? Brave of them because horror fans can be so literal even though the genre is strongest when its metaphoric. Remembers just a smidgeon of the way they went all florid and crafty for the poster to Stoker.

[Interrupted reverie] WAI--WHERE IS MICHELLE PFEIFFER'S NAME !?!?!

I understand leading with an image of Jennifer Lawrence as she's the presumed lead and the most bankable of the film's five stars (the others being the goddess Pfeiffer, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, and Domhnall Gleeson, but Michelle's name not even on the teaser poster? wtf.

PR Dept to Artist: "Make it like a cross between a Pierre et Gilles photograph and a fantasy paperback cover but SOFTER. And less gay"

So hungry.

I only met Darren Aronofsky once at a party with lots of alcohol but he was very friendly and seemed to have a sly sense of humor. I feel reasonably certain he smiled when he saw this poster, especially all the delicate fussiness around his name.

Big medium rare burger.

Red is Pedro Almodóvar's favorite color.

[Mental Flash to...]

[And then to...]

It's great that the title is all lowercase with an exclamation point. Exclamation points in title are awesome. Think I Want to Live! or Moulin Rouge! or Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

The synopsis on IMDb continues to haunt me with its useless vagueness - I'd rather know nothing than this little!

Centers on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

I'm loving the RePfeiffal so much already and it hasn't even really begun yet.

And I bloody ♥ this poster. Planning to obsess over it.

Sick joke to release this poster today!

HAPPY mother! DAY

[15 minutes later]

Wait what...

Who dat in the photo?

And why is this flower dripping???

I'm suddenly not okay.
