It seems like this is the time for reboots and remakes. Every film or TV show we’ve ever loved is getting another go. So why not the classic female workplace revenge comedy 9 to 5? It’s not like things are going great for women in the workplace 38 years on from the original, as the last few months have shown.
Patricia Resnick, the writer of the 1980 version, is teaming up with Rashida Jones to pen this one...
Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton are expected to return but will also have a few new co-stars. The premise for this reboot is about three younger women dealing with sexism and chauvinism in the workplace. They turn to the original trio for help in navigating and getting even with male higher-ups.
So who would you cast? There is no specificity to the characters yet so let your imagination run wild.
Maybe I’m still in Wakanda where Angela Bassett beguiled me with her regal disposition and fabulous gray dreadlocks but I hope she gets one of the three parts.Obviously a Hollywood studio woud go for much younger actresses for all three parts but one can dream. Who would be your choice?
