THE BRUTALIST | © A24
The Brutalist leads the nominations for the 13th annual Team Experience Awards. Brady Corbet's Oscar player scored in seven categories, including Best Picture, Director, and Actor. The film premiered on digital today, so if you missed it in theaters, it's time to give this epic a look. Many other Oscar frontrunners appeared on our ballots, with every one of AMPAS' Best Picture nominees featured in one category or another. As always, it's a fascinating mix of prestige fare and outré offerings, awards magnets, and obscure titles that got here on the basis of a few writers' burning passion. These awards are a testament to the variety of opinions featured on The Film Experience, having been voted by several members of its team. With the notable exception of Nathaniel, whose Film Bitch Awards are another matter altogether.

FUN FACTS & FIGURES
- In total, 52 films received votes in the Best Picture category.
- In total, 87 performances received votes across the four acting categories.
- With seven nominations, The Brutalist is this year's nomination leader. Last year, even the second-most-nominated film had more mentions. As a reminder, in 2024, Poor Things received 12 nominations and Barbie nine.
- As is starting to happen more and more often at the Team Experience Awards, Close Your Eyes was nominated for Best Picture and nothing else.
- Dune: Part Two had the inverse fate of Close Your Eyes. Though it scored five nominations, none of those were for Best Picture.
- Across these 20 categories, the Team Experience managed to recognize 47 features. The numbers are up from last year's 39. This is also significantly more than the Academy, whose voting body nominated a grand total of 35 feature films.
- In terms of matching the Academy's taste, the Team Experience had very similar ballots in the Best Production Design, Makeup & Hairstyling, and Animated Feature categories. In those three cases, it was a 4/5 match.
- Though there are some vocal opponents to category fraud in the Team Experience, we are a heterogeneous group whose members often disagree with each other. This year, Kieran Culkin scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination after featuring in both ballots. However, he didn't get enough Best Actor votes to appear in that race.
- Ariana Grande in Wicked and Tilda Swinton in Problemista also received votes for both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.
- Sebastian Stan was the only actor who received votes for multiple performances. However, unlike AMPAS, the Team Experience writers went with his Silver Bear-winning turn in A Different Man as opposed to his Oscar-nominated work in The Apprentice.
