What SHOULD win?
The readers chose SOUL here in a resounding victory with 52% of the vote.
What will win?
The signs point to Soul especially since its about a musician.
What got stiffed?
The Little Things (Newman), The Invisible Man (Wallfisch), Ammonite (Bertelmann & O'Halloran), Blizzard of Souls (Ritmanis), Jingle Jangle (Debney), The Life Ahead (Yared), Mulan (Gregson-Williams) were also finalists.

What SHOULD win? READERS CHOICE
SOUND OF METAL won with the highest percentage win in any category taking 89% of the votes. Whoa!
What will win?
Initially we thought that Sound of Metal was too good to be a winner, in that innovative work is sometimes too challenging for the layperson voter. But it's plentiful nominations elsewhere suggest its loved so we think this is its likeliest win. If it's a disappointing Oscar night perhaps Soul will prove the spoiler?
What got stiffed?
We thought that Nomadland, Invisible Man, and Trial of the Chicago 7 might appear but our own ballot goes like so...

What SHOULD win? Vote Daily
HUSAVIK was the readers choice for Best Original Song scoring 42% of your votes
What will win?
While this should be the perfect "Husavik" which is beautiful, central to its movie, and a believable Eurovision send-up simultaneously in a walk, we suspect voters are going to go with either "Speak Now" or "Fight For You" as a way of honoring either One Night in Miami or Judas and the Black Messiah.
What got stiffed?
It's disappointing that Oscar's music branch is now so into end credits songs. They ignored songs that were actually a key part of the movie like "Make It Work" from Jingle Jangle which would have made a fine nominee and "Wuhan Flu" for Borat (not a great loss but important to the film). Other finalists were the haunting "Green" from Sound of Metal, "Free" from One and Only Ivan, "Loyal Brave and True" from Mulan, the very lovely "Rain Song" from Minari, "Never Break" from Giving Voice, "Show Me Your Soul" from Mr Soul, "See What You've Done" from Belly fo the Beast, and Janelle Monae's "Turntables" from All In: Fight for Democracy. Our own ballot looked like so...
