Who SHOULD win? Reader's Choice... you can vote daily
YOUN YUH-JUNG won a clear victory with 39% of your votes
How'd I do on my predictions?
4/5 Incorrectly guessing that Jodie Foster would boot Amanda Seyfried from contention. This if the first time since 1976 that the Globe winner hasn't been nominatd in this category.
Who was left out?
Who wasn't? It was a very tight volatile race with Helena Zengel (News of the World), Ellen Burstyn (Pieces of a Woman), Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Jodie Foster all having reason to hope for nominations at various points. Our preferred ballot looks different though.
Who will win?
With her 8th nomination Glenn Close is the one to beat. The only actor to have ever received 8 nominations without winning is Peter O'Toole.
Who should win? Nathaniel's Choice...
I'm torn between Olivia Colman and Youn Yuh-jung (removing Bakalova from the equation because she's a lead performer) and my vote goes to Youn Yuh-jung for an indelible multifaceted delight of a performance as a room-crashing fun grandmother suddenly out of her element but just going for it as a new purpose.
How'd They Get Nominated? (Coming Soon)

Trivia Specific to this category, these women
First Bulgarian actor nominated!  Only the second woman ever to arrive at 8 nominations without having previously won (Geraldine Page was the first to accomplish this and won on her 8th) Both of her Oscar nominated performances have been for characters named "Anne".  Second actress from Mean Girls to be Oscar nominated (Rachel McAdams was first) First Korean woman to be nominated for an acting Oscar!
