Lunchtime Poll: Multiple Acting Oscars

I was all prepared to list the most Oscar winning Actors for a quickie top ten list. Until I remembered there were only six with 3 or more Oscars (for acting)

Four Leading Oscars
01 Katharine Hepburn
Three Leading Oscars
02 Daniel Day-Lewis
Three Oscars (Lead/Supporting Mix)
[Three-Way Tie]
03 Ingrid Bergman
03 Meryl Streep
03 Jack Nicholson
Three Oscars (Supporting)
06 Walter Brennan

YOUR TASK: Make it a top ten by filling slots seven through ten. Name the four actors who most deserve to join them as three-timers or the ones who seem most likely?

Jessica Lange seems poised to make it happen. What a difference a few years makes, even in our later years. GREY GARDENS, AMERICAN HORROR STORY -- a true revitalization. She's picking up steam with film work again.

Would love to see her hook up with a hot director -- imagine her in the Melissa Leo role in THE FIGHTER? David O. Russell would be an ideal fit for her.

Peggy Sue, Lemmon is dead.

Peggy Sue,

Oh how I wish Lemmon could have won a third. One of my all time favorite actors. As for this, most likely is easily Cate and Denzel. Hoping for Fonda, though.

What if....Glenda Jackson

My wish:
Jennifer Jason Leigh wins in 2016 for the lead in Tarantino's Hateful Eight.
Then, she wins again for a supporting role the next year and 5 years later just blows everyone away playing the lead in a Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman/Mike Leigh/von Trier or Lynch's movie and wins another one.
There.

Most Likely?
Cate Blanchett
Robert De Niro
Sean Penn
Tom Hanks

He's getting up there in age, but I might also consider Michael Caine.

My Wish List includes:
Dustin Hoffman returns for one last great role
Marion Cotillard keeps up the great work for the next 40 years

Other than that, I'd rather they just spread it around.

07, Michelle Pfeiffer ('89, '92, '02)
08 Barbara Stanwyck ('41, '44, '53)
09 Anthony Hopkins ('91, '93, '95)
10 Julianne Moore ('94, '95, '97) *even '02 since Huppert never stood a chance to be nominated, much less win.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong in rewriting history in your head :D

Most likely to join this list: Cate Blanchett, Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey
Most likely to move up this list: Meryl Streep

BVR, what's the point in rewriting rules if you can't rewrite them to get Huppert a win?

Kevin Spacey is just as unpopular despite two Oscars.

7.Cate Blanchett
8. Christoph Waltz
9. Jennifer Lawrence (I know this sounds crazy considering she only has one, but I have a hunch she is going to be nominated very regularly, and I think award #2 will be in the next couple of years, and 3 will be before some of the others noted above.)

It's easy, from 7-10 would be a whole cast of A Streetcar Named Desire

Or even... the whole cast of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

October 22, 2014 | Unregistered Commentertombeet

Can we take one from Hillary Swank?

October 22, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermagicub

I can see Meryl Streep winning 5 competitive Oscars, surpassing Hepburn. As has been stated, Streep defies the rules.

October 22, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterbrandz

The only person I can really see joining them right now is Cate Blanchett. And Jennifer Lawrence would not surprise me at all.

October 22, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip H.

1. Katharine Hepburn
2. Meryl Streep
3. Ingrid Bergman
4. Jack Nicholson
5. Daniel Day-Lewis
