Top 5 Suits Cate Blanchett Wore to Promote Ocean's 8

by Murtada

Tonight’s the night! Ocean’s 8 starts playing and we will finally get the full fashion parade of Cate Blanchett’s costumes. Word is that she’s almost exclusively in suits. That wardrobe is already making the internet aflutter. But Cate has also promoted the film wearing suits to every premiere and press engagement. Her co-star Anne Hathaway said it best at the movie’s New York premiere Tuesday night:

Cate Blanchett has owned her lady suits this entire movie process up to now. She's that great of an actress. She's committed to her character. We wouldn't dare wear a suit for the premiere!"

So here are the top five suits Cate Blanchett wore promoting Ocean’s 8:

#5 - Today Show, designer unknown

This pale lavender number below is cute and all but it wins this placement because it was what Cate wore when she appeared alongside Sarah Paulson in the now viral non-interview at the Today show...

Yes, No, Maybe So: Ocean's Eight

by Jorge Molina

2017 has been a rough year for all of us. But with just about ten days remaining until we step into the terrifying unknown, it’s really trying its best to go out on a high note, or high as it can get at this point.

After a teaser was revealed yesterday, a full trailer was finally released this morning for the all-female reboot of the famed Ocean’s franchise, Ocean’s Eight, starring every actress you ever wanted to see together and directed by Hunger Games helmer Gary Ross.

Watch it once. Watch it twice. Watch it a dozen times. And then go after the jump to see the Yes, No, and Maybe So’s.

"Ocean's Eight" Awaits

Chris here. While the world is continually bad, one of our sustaining mantras has been the promise of female ensemble heisting with Ocean's 8. The main refrain of this meditation / mindfulness exercise is obviously its stars - say their names with me and feel renewed: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, and Awkwafina.

Well done.

We've got a new poster and a photo of the assembled crew to distract ourselves, but even this is just a hint of the fun to come (you can expect a trailer to come very soon, impatient readers). Bullock will be playing Danny Ocean's equally conning sister Debbie, so the opportunity remains for some fun crossover with Steven Soderbergh's trilogy. The film's big heist will take place during the Met Gala and juicy cameos should be expected. Ocean's 12 already made a "Julia Roberts pretending to be Julia Roberts" gag, but it would be amusing to revamp the bit here. Rihanna is queen of the Met Gala, after all.

But our new looks are decidedly less fussy than that red carpet extravaganza, with the poster giving us coats and shades mystique and the image below has the team mid-planning. What is Debbie Ocean's octad looking at in their projector? The endless news cycle? Something from the screener pile? The trailer they're keeping from us? Hmmmm.

Screen Supporting Actress Extraordinaire Sarah Paulson

by Murtada

We’ve just seen her in the trailer for Steven Spielberg's The Post, delivering one of the clip's memorable moments. "Well, I think that's brave". She’s going to be one of the Ocean’s Eight. And she'll appear in the M Night Shyamalan Unbreakable/Split sequel Glass. She is also signed to co-star in Bird Box. She’ll be acting with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Samuel L Jackson, Tom Hanks, Rihanna, Bruce Willis and Meryl Streep.  Yes, Sarah Paulson will be dominating film screens, from the vantage point of the supporting player.

Paulson is booking movies left and right. Obviously casting directors noticed the range she shown in her many Ryan Murphy TV projects. The latest project announced is John Crowley’s adaptation of Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer-winning The Goldfinch...
