Blogger Man: Turn Off the Link
Serious Film Michael (a TFE columnist) is counting down his favs of the year.
Final Girl Stacy's cartoons of the Friday the 13th series almost make it seems as cute as a Pixar movie... okay no. I amend. It's still sick so it's almost as cute as a Don Hertzfeldt animation.
Parabasis a fascinating thoughtful and scathing review of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
In Contention Guy's 25 favorites of 2010. It was a very good year.
Alternative Film Guide RIP Miriam Seegar, one of the last surviving silent film actors.
Vulture Quentin Tarantino responds to the collective internet freakout also known as "OMG, why isn't Sofia Coppola's Somewhere which he awarded in Venice on his top ten list?!?"
Pop Matters chooses their (collective) favorite 20 female performances of 2010. Interesting li... okay, it's a bizarre list. We do appreciate Matt's writeup of Barbara Hershey in Black Swan. We do not appreciate the Annette Bening snub.
Fuming Actresses
US Weekly Michelle Williams is not pleased with the way Nightline edited her statements about Heath Ledger's death and their breakup.
EW's Inside Movies Julia Roberts has had it with everyone ignoring Javier Bardem in Biutiful. OBEY!
The Advocate Glenn Close is horrified that she has an unauthorized cameo in that anti-gay USS Enterprise Navy video that recently caused such a ruckus.

I really don't understand what the ruckus is over the Tarantino list. Have people never considered the idea that it might have been his favorite film at the festival, but he might have found ten outside films that he liked more? These same people do realize that he was only allowed to award the prize at Venice to a movie that actually played at the festival, right? He couldn't just decide to hand it to "Toy Story 3."
Liz -- agreed. but then it's tricky to remember things like that if you're unfamiliar with festivals. I've served on a few juries and sometimes even the thing you love most you only "like" ;)
Reasons like this are why I love Julia Roberts. I hope she's presenting at the Oscars (my favourite thing about the entire season last year - give or take - was watching her and Tom Hanks go crazy at the Golden Globes).
Not to detract from Javier Bardem, who’s great, but Julia Roberts is (along with Sean Penn) perhaps *the* most obnoxious public stumper for co-stars. Her feckless, indiscrete cronyism is case in point why actors do not a viable film critic make. (I can’t think of Denzel Washington, circa 2002 Oscars, without playback of that harpie's shrieking.)
If you think the Pop Matters list for females is weird (seems to me like a consensus list of all I read on these blogs), read the males' list: Firth and Bale of course, but also folks like Hill, Cassel (for Mesrine), Reynolds, Clooney...
Tarantino’s one regret for public consumption should be allowing Kill Bill (originally convinced as a stand alone 3 hour film) into the two haves mood swing abortions that they’re now. If there’s one reason to hate Harvey Weinstein it’s that.
I agree Bening should be on the list but so should Moore!
I love Julia Roberts for that. Great to see her support the brilliant Bardem so passionately. And I'm excited to see her working with Meryl Streep.
I'd actually love to review these boxes on my shopping/lifestyle blog. i wonder if they'd send me a sample box to talk about? tbzzjb tbzzjb - Mulberry Bags Outlet.
