Ask Nathaniel...

It's that time again. It's actually a perfect time since I need inspiration (this week has been.... difficult). Remember no 17 part-questions and no top ten list requests disguised as questions (unless you're okay with me just banking them for future inspiration for top ten list columns... in which case, shoot!). Otherwise, fair game!

P.S. Oscar questions may be diverted to this weekend's Oscar column. Depending on what they be.

Hollywood, in their infinite wisdom, decides to remake "Weekend." Who would you cast as Russell and Greg? (I'm thinking Andrew Garfield for Russell, since he's got that "scared" overtone down pat, but I'm not sure about Greg.)

HI Nat.

Do you think the help and bridesmaids succes will get more female orientated films made, black or white in origin.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMARK

What is your favorite Kubrick film, and/or your opinion on Barry Lyndon?!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKokolo

Pick three performances in Nashville which you think are the most impressive/deserving of attention...that aren't Lily Tomlin or Ronee Blakley.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJoe K

Can you think of three actresses from the "Golden Age of Hollywood" that have a modern-day equivalent in terms of screen persona, types of projects they choose, and roles they play? I ask because my man and I recently watched Rabbit Hole (GOD was it good!) and he tried to sell me on the idea that Nicole Kidman is the modern-day equivalent of Katharine Hepburn, based on the fact that they both work with major auteurs on a semi-regular basis and the fact that they both found a play/role they believed in (Philadelphia Story in Hepburn's case) and shepherded it to the screen. I was a bit dubious, but the connections are probably there to make in other cases, too.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterdenny

How do you think Ellen Page's future as an actress will pan out?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAkim

Re-cast Clue! But DON'T cast it with today's actors (who could never do it justice!). Instead, cast it as if it had been super-A-list back in 1985, when it was filmed. So, it's Streep, Close, Pfeiffer, etc. for the actresses and Ford, Nicholson, etc. for the actors! (FYC: Marsha Mason for Mrs. White.)

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMarsha Mason

Which actresses would you put on a shortlist for this new Grace Kelly movie?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBia

Probably too simple, but it's the first thing that came to my mind.

Which (movie person) skin would you live in?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenteriggy

Since we are almost from the same generation, I always wondered who was your first actressexual crush growing up. Mine was Farrah Fawcett, I was a rabid fan since I was like 12, just when I started watching her in Charlie's angels. I couldnt stop drawing her and collecting pictures. It was quite an obsession. My parents were even a little bit concerned about it LOL. An actresexual monster was born. What do you think of her? Who was yours?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSeisgrados

Choose three Oscar-winning or Oscar-nominated actresses from the 2000s whose careers are most in need of redirecting and explain how you would help them get back on track.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMatthew

What super dramatic film would you remake as a musical and vice versa?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDylan

How much chance do you think Michael Parks has of getting an Oscar nomination for his performance in Red State? His performance in that movie is the best one I've seen so far this year.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMeghan

Ignoring the actors that Baz Luhrmann has already cast, who would be in your ideal cast for The Great Gatsby remake? Keep in mind the characters' ages as mentioned in the novel, which everybody always seems to forget when there's talk of casting this movie. In descending order of age: Gatsby is "a year or two over thirty," Tom is "thirty," Nick is 29/30, Daisy is 22, Jordan is 21.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAmory

As a Michelle Pfeiffer fan, would you nominated her wonderful performance in Batman Returns? And would you place her in lead or supporting?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJon

Jennifer Jason Leight, I think should have at LEAST 4 Oscar Nominations (1 Win (Exit to Brooklyn)-Maybe two (Georgia)). Why the hate? p.s. I think the nom. should be: "Exit to Brooklyn" "Ms. Parker & the vicious cercle" "Georgia" & "Margot at the weding."

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterstjeans

They're making a biopic of the Spice Girls. Who would you cast and why?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEric C.

The official Oscar season had begins, all bloggers is putting Davis on lock and front runner status for the gold. Every year Oscar give out little secret surprises. Do you think Oscar will put her on supporting come January morning? Sorry this might be too early to ask you.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChand

Okay this may be a first but here it cumes:

Which movie has made you "horny"?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterManuel

What does Drew Barrymore need to do to follow in the footsteps on her famous acting family and become, at the least, an Oscar nominee?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip

I was gonna ask the very question Bia just asked! Grace Kelly....well, NO ONE is as beautiful as she was, so "beauty" alone should not be the only criteria because it will be impossible to find someone who would match her beauty.....so, how should the producers cast this role and who would you cast?

OH MY GOD (pronounced just like Janice would) I LOVE Eric C's question!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAmanda

Just a comment for stjeans on Jennifer Jason Leigh... Please don't forget her performances in Washington Square and The Hudsucker Proxy!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermarcos_chaser@yahoo.com

James Dean would have been in his 40s in the 1970s, in his 50s in the 1980s, in his 60s in the 1990s and in his 70s in the 2000s.

Cast him in one memorable role in a great film for each of these four decades, and remain age appropriate.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMrW

Have you been seeing "American Horror Story"?? What´s your opinion?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMartha

Please, give me your top five favorite horror movies from this decade! Thanks!

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMário

Do you like "I Know Who Killed Me"??? I think its very campy, yet still "artsy".

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMartha

If you had to pick one of this actresses to work with Martin Scorsese, who would you choose: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amy Adams, Evan Rachel Wood or Rachel McAdams?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAmy Adams

Rachel McAdams, underrated or overrated?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPaul

The rapture happens. Only this time, it's taken actors and actresses. Only five are left behind. The rest you will never see perform again. These five establish a repertory and act until the new generation starts to arise. Who are the five you cannot live without seeing more of?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBeau

If you could do a remake of Sophies Choice, who do you think would play a good Sophie?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMarc

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMario

What are your favorite real-life gay actors? and gay characters?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSMG

Amber Heard, underrated or overrated?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPaul

Hey Nathaniel!

I'm not sure you're a fan of 'Desperate Housewives' but, beeing such an actressexual, what do you think its actresses should do it the silver screen to give their careers a good spin now that the show is coming to an end?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCarlos

Have you seen "The Return" with Sarah Michelle Gellar? I love that movie and it deserves a lot more recognition. Love you Nathaniel...

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterZooey

Marry Me...just kidding...maybe

I don't know what to ask you anymore...film related. I'm almost sick of talking about actresses. It feels like the same ones...those without Oscars and Streep...I wish that one day we'd find out that our favorite actress actually has a penis.

I got it...What movies make you cry that weren't intentionally design to? Now keep in mind I'm not thinking the movie is so bad I'm in tears...more like this movie reminds me of someone or a certain time in life that will never be.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commenter/3rtfull

Yep, I'll go Oscar-y and Actress-y once again.
I don't suppose you have seen enough movies from those years to judge, but how many nominations and wins would you have given Bette Davis? Or simply, how many of her performances do you love?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJames T

Help me! I've finally wised up and figured out that I need to work with a masterful director. Which one should I choose?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMeryl Streep

Finally, I caught this on time! Just my two cents - I love iggy's, matthew's, beau's, manuel's and - Meryl, darling, have you not been reading this blog? You'd probably already have your answer if you did, darling.

Here's mine: what stage play (musical or not) do you feel SHOULD be adapted to film? Who should direct it?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJanice

I really love Carlos's question from last time, so here I post it again for your consideration:

"Having recently celebrated 'The Royal Tenenbaums''s 10th aniversary... may I ask you your opinion on it? And, on a more fun note, how would you recast it today (with actors within the same age/level of stardom as the original ones in their day, re-casting not accepted! :P

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commentertombeet

And here's mine:
-What is your favorite character(s) in Dazed and Confused? And why?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commentertombeet

What's your favorite Ava Gardner performance?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTyler

I have been surprised by how impressed I am by the actor currently playing Doctor Who, Matt Smith. Do you watch much Doctor Who and if so, what do you think of Smith?

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJessica

5 Top Maggie Smith Performances?

What can she do to really challenge herself at this point in her career?

5 MVP's and thoughts on the second series of Dowton Abbey?

Greedy i know, but pick any one :)

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermorgan

As I was glancing through people's questions, I first read Iggy's as "which movie person would you skin live"!! Haha... then I read carefully what he wrote. So in the spirit of Halloween, which movie person would you skin live?

@/3rtfull: "I wish that one day we'd find out that our favorite actress actually has a penis."... You cracked me up! That was a hilarious image that formed in my mind.

Nat, keep up the great job. You rock.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJones

You have recently been accepted a job listing you found online to become Sharon Stone's brand new agent. You realize she has not had exposure in years but also remember she is capable of moments of brilliance (Casino) and camp (The Quick and the Dead) equally.

What is your first course of action for this glamorous, washed-up(?), bat-s&!# crazy STAR?
Co-host of The View? Sexy ensemble drama on Pay cable?

OMG so many good questions this week, lord have mercy. I am so jealous of people that are able to ask these creative, imaginative questions lol.

October 28, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip

If you could cancel an Oscar category and create a new one, what would you do?
