"Open Up and Say... 'AAAAaaahhhvengers'"

I find these very disturbing all lined up like so...

Shouldn't the letters read Avengers when it's in banner form -- it's the exact right amount of characters -- and  a simple logoriffic "A" when it's not. Otherwise it's all "say AAAAAAaaaaaahhhhh"

Please note that ScarJo is the only player who gets a butt shot. That's part of the whole gender typing superhero sexualization disparity thing as seen here and here.

Yeah, that's weird. They have enough people to spell out AVENGERS, too!

TBH, I'm not too fussed about the "only ScarJo gets a butt shot" thing since the Marvel films (well, "Thor" and "Captain America", anyway) have already proven to be objectifying their male lead. And in both cases at the expense of their female co-star (Hayley Atwell and Natalie Portman don't so much as dress remotely skimpy!)

I believe it was in Iron Man 2 that ScarJo had her hair in a ponytail, realizes she has to kick ass, and takes her hair out of the ponytail before the big action scene. As any lady knows, that makes absolutely no sense. But hey, gotta look sexy when you bend over to show cleavage at the end of the scene.

I wish I could be surprised by the Scar-Jo butt shot, but instead I all but looked for something like that, knowing it would be there. Yup.

There's a lot of stuff out there where male comic book characters are re-imagined posed and dressed the way female characters typically are, to counter the frequent argument that 'male characters are objectified too!' Here's another good one: Totally Appropriate Covers

Jessica -- i was loooking for that and couldnn't find. thanks! I mean this pic of ScarJo isn't all that sexualized but like you i was looking for it since i knew it would be there.

the thing that cracks me up about this topic is how defensive comics fan gets like "the men are sexualized too" LOL. putting huge shadows over male crotches as they stand arms akimbo (where is the shadow coming from?) is obscuring their sex rather than highlighting it... i sometimes think the people who get upset about this have never seen sexual images of men. turns out they're easy to objectify, too ;)
