nathaniel, why did you find sasha's article annoying?

December 13, 2011 | Unregistered Commentertesh

Its interesting Nathaniel that you usually quote, link and recomend Sasha's articles. I get that hers is a huge, well-known, respected blog, she's probably inteligent, has seen a lot of movies and followed the awards race for quite some time now, but its been a while since I was last able to read Awards Daily. They have reached a point of utter arrogance, such a know it all attitude, viciousness, complete and utter lack of respect for those who have diferent opinions that I usually find myself disgusted whenever I try to give them a shot.

I find myself wondering: "who does this person thinks she is? Why does she think she is above everyone else? Why does she think those who dont sgree with her are ignorant, uneducated, stupid, dumb and dont deserve to live? Why does she think her opinion is the only valid one?"

The thinks she said about King's Speech fans last year were purely vicious and mean. She treated them all like braindead stupid morons who would never reach "her level" of wisdom, understanding and depth (I happen to know three people who happen to have PHD's from Oxford who LOVED the King's Speech. I doubt they are as uninteligent, uneducated and stupid ans Sasha believed the movie's fans to be).

They way she was hysterical about the social network last year was simply pathetic and she behaved like a spoiled baby the entire process. She was borderline insane.

I dont get why she needs to constantly insult those who happen to have diferent opinions and why does she feel entitled to behave as if she were above everyone else. As if she were the only inteligent, educated, enlightened person in the universe. Why does she need to be so agressive, vicious and mean to people who commit the sin of disagreeing with her.

And the same goes for Ryan, who I have seen insulting readers in a very agressive and straight foward manner.

This article you just linked is an example: Why does she need to call a critic a dumbass in her article's headline? Its childish, agressive, rude and uncalled for.

Tesh -- i meant that "shame" as an emotion is annoying. I wasn't talking about Sasha ;)

Amanda -- hmmm. this gets me into a tricky zone. My roundup of links is a daily collection of three things
1. "news i'm not going to cover on my own."
2. "recommendations"
3. "things worth discussing"

but #2 is only part of it. I DO NOT ENDORSE EVERYTHING I LINK ;)

But to be annoyed by the emotion is in a way to be annoyed by the movie because it sort of endorses the idea that there's no joy in his indulgences.

That's me echoing my friends. The Shame backlash started in October, when I started talking to my other TIFF friends about it. I wrote that it's a well performed and well made film (and somehow releatable, don't ask) and I still stand by that.
