Ugh, now I want to watch Enchanted despite being stuck at work!
(Inhales deeply), GISELLE!!! That never got old, and neither does the movie. Nothing truly out of the ordinary, but very sweet, well done, and with actors elevating the material (with the exception of Sarandon. what in the hell was she doing?). It's one of those movies I find myself watching whenever it's on.
When Sarandon shows up on screen, that movie starts to plummet.
Wade -- it's true. I think stylization just must not be her thing. She's so good at certain things. But not this.
James Marsden on the other hand. gee-nee-uss "116th and Broadway!!!!"
I was so mad at the producers/writers of the X-Men series for just relegating Marsden to the sidelines. Such a damn shame to waste his talent because he wasn't the A-lister in the bunch. Love his singing voice - particularly his Ally McBeal numbers "Witchcraft" and "The Lady is a Tramp".
GISELLE!!!
Now I've got to watch Enchanted. And pray for Marsden to do another musical.
I could see him playing Jamie in The Last 5 Years. Not that I think it should be made into a movie at all.
Yay! Marsden's finest hour.
And amen about Sarandon. She's grown very hammy with age (see also, or don't: "The Lovely Bones," "Wall Street 2")
I kinda feel this way right now....my mom sent me a picture from work of her WITH AN OSCARRRRR!!!!!! I'm so jealous. Agh. The film editor of the departed was friends with my mom's friend and let her hold onto one of her Oscars, so my mom got to hold it and take a picture with it. She knew I was jealous.
He's obviously watching the way Melissa Leo is handling her campaign this year.
I remember when I started to watch the trailer for this I thought it was going to be worthless. Then they showed the scene where Marsden gets run over by the bicyclists and I COMPLETELY changed my mind. It's one of my favorites now. :)
It was a fun little trifle. Favourite comedy, or one to get me personally out of a depression? No. I have to be already happy to enjoy something like Enchanted. When I get really depressed I would want nothing more or less than to tuck up, nice and cozy, with Kind Hearts and Coronets or Dr. Strangelove or a similarly toned comedy.
Agreed what is it with Sarandon she was a force in the late 80's/early 90's and the same year 2007 she spit this part on the screen she was indelible in 7 mins of in the valley of elah,i don't get it,she was awful in The Lovely bones too.
I love Marsden. I do, I do, I do. Someone please throw him something substantial.
People bashing Sarandon – you all should feel ashamed. I don’t care how misdirected she is in mediocre pap she’s Susan Sarandon.
Enchanted was a real eye opener for me in terms of James Marsden. I'd only seen him in X-Men and I'd thought he was a waste of space. I had no idea he was so talented, charming and funny. I agree, I wish he had more jobs that let him shine.
