The Drama, Tragicomedy and Mystery of This Year's Oscars.

Over at Tribeca Film in my weekly Oscar column I'm examining where we are now Post-SAG with ballots out and just two precursors left (BAFTA & The Spirit Awards) which aren't really precursors in the classical sense (they don't deal with the same pool of films, exactly). My personal feeling is that this year's season is headed toward tragicomedy in its final lap as The King's Speech takes off its underdog disguise.
Are you laughing, crying, or scratching your head over the recent awards season developments?

That picture of Sally Fields in the Tribeca article...did she have a bad rash on Oscar night?
I still think Social Network and The Fighter have TINY chances of winning. If King's Speech has boulder sized odds of winning, Social Network's odds are pea sized, and The Fighter's odds are the size of a bacteria cell.
It really is sad to see how the Academy's going to blow it so badly with snubbing The Social Network in best picture. Can't help but laugh at how foolish the Oscars really are. Yay for mediocrity and stuter-r-r-r-ing British monarchs! Next year, please.
I'm a bit surprised by all the reactions to The King's Speech becoming the frontrunner, wasn't it all the time? Wasn't The Social Network temporary short crowning just like a facebook status, ever changing? I love the Social Network, I think it's a great movie (better than Zodiac, which I didn't like at all) and I haven't seen The King's Speech (sorry, Colin Firth does nothing for me to buy a ticket. Yes, even after A Single Man), but it seems to me it's the Oscar race "comme il faut", at least that's how I remember past Oscar races.
Other than that, I'd love to see an upset in the B. Actor, maybe Eisenberg? What could he do with his career with an Oscar? And I love that Christian Bale is the frontrunner in his category. It was about time. It's somehow weird Firth is getting the Leading one and Bale the supporting. I've always thought Firth was a really good supporting actor, but no so much when leading, and Bale has somehow a better history at leading in my eyes.
I really want to see Black Swan, though through the clips and comments, reviews and what not I fear it'll be too campy/dated, but I liked Australia so maybe I'm not a good judge.
Depressing.
Is everyone counting out an HBC win? Unless they go for Manville, she will probably with the BAFTA. I don't think I would predict it, but I definitely think it could happen.
