"you'll have your links, your pretty face...♪ "

My New Plaid Pants on Jake Gyllenhaal's next project.
Pajiba on the myth of the ugly-hot woman in Hollywood; they're all hot. There is no female equivalent to Steve Buscemi.
Comics Alliance Annie Leibovitz has more of those Disney with celebrity portraits including what looks like an entirely computer generated portrait of Queen Latifah as film experience obsession Ursula. Does this mean we're supposed to imagine her battling Julianne Moore who was Ariel for Liebovitz last time? It's the 2002 Best Supporting Actress Oscar race all over again.

Wait? The Oscar are over?
Zap2It
Potty-mouthed Kate Winslet F***ing loves Melissa Leo's Oscar speech
Alt Film Guide
Somehow I missed both this trivia and this stupidity: Natalie Portman is the first pregnant unmarried Oscar married and Republican Mike Huckabee has already expressed his dismay at her morality!
A Socialite's Life Our first totally silly 2011 Oscar story!  People  are pretending that Justin Bieber's documentary Never Say Never could be in the Oscar race next year. Note to the gullible: Hollywood is a powerocrocacy, anyone will suck up to someone they perceive as important at a party. It doesn't mean they'd ever vote for their movie to be nominated for an Oscar.

P.S.

I'm meeting with Ludivine Sagnier in a couple of days. She's one of my favorite French actresses with quite a few popular or must-see films under her belt: 8 Women, Peter Pan, Love Songs, A Girl Cut in Two, Swimming Pool, Water Drops on Burning Rocks, etcetera. Any questions you think I should ask her? What's your favorite Ludivine movie?

Re: ugly-hot

I happen to be guilty of using this term. I think the examples they used aren't how I would use it (not simply librarian takes her glasses off and lets her hair down). I use it to describe non-traditionally beautiful women. They may not be jaw-dropping at first glance, but you just have to see them in the right light/role. I'm thinking Sandra Oh and Laura Dern. So so hot, but very non-traditional.

Did Huckabee express disdain for fellow tea-party daughter Bristol Palin's pregnancy? If not, he should shut the fuck up.

If so, he should still shut the fuck up.

For Sagnier.... ask her if she would do another musical (I quite liked her in Love Songs) and why she hasn't worked with Desplechin yet (but nicer).

my favourite film with ludivine is Paris Je t'aime
I LOOOOVEEEE her episode. i know that film's episodes are not consistent in quality, so i can't call the whole movie a great work, but that episode is def in the top three.

Nate, baby, you’re Streeper. Do you know if there’s any actress that’s been her co-nominee more than twice?

Glenn Close (87, 88)
Jessica Lange (82, 85)
Kathy Bates (90, 02)
Susan Sarandon (81, 95)
Kate Winslet (06, 08)

Also on my mind two-time losing co-nominees.

Judy Davis and Vanessa Redgrave (84, 92)
Anjelica Huston and Julia Roberts (89, 90)

I've been obsessed with Ludivine ever since I saw her in "Huit femmes" (she should have won the César for Most promising newcomer that year!). I loved everything she did with François Ozon (quel génie !), she was also fantastic in "Un secret", "La fille coupée en deux", "La petite Lili", and "Les chansons d'amour" (one of my ALL-TIME faves - I heard she's starring in Christophe Honoré's next movie, that's exciting!). I wish (French) people would realize how talented she is and take her more seriously...
@ Nathaniel: I know her English is pretty good, but in case you need an interpreter I'll be more than happy to help! ;)

Penelope Cruz is GORGEOUS in her Disney photo. I mean, Jesus.

And don't underestimate the power of... BO-DY LANG-UAGE!

@/3rtfu11

Among men, the ones I can think of are:

Crowe and Penn: '99 and '01
D. Hoffman and Newman: '67 and '82
D. Hoffman and O'Toole: '69 and '82
Finney and J. Bridges: '84 and '00(supp)
Harris and Rush: '98(supp) and '00

I'm guessing Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, and Marlon Brando have approximately 492 concurrent nominations among them, so I'm not even going to count.

March 5, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPercy

@percy. lol you're right.

nicholson and pacino both share THREE consecutive best actor nominations in 74', '75, and '76. Jeezy-weezy. that's a record, right?

pacino and hoffman for '75 and '80

nicholson and hoffman for '75 and '98

i leave beatty and brando for someone else.

Omg! i'm so jealous! I really love Ludivine Sagnier, my wife has forbiden me to watch any of her movies because I'm all the time whispering and telling her "guau, she's so pretty" I adore her. I want a video from her sayng hi to Ivo Delgado. It would be my dream coming true

My girlfriend and I had this very conversation re: Ugly-hot women in Hollywood, the only solid example we could come up with was Toni Collette, who I actually find very attractive at times.

FYI, the article is way off if its author considers David Tennant as "ugly-hot", I'm not gay, but he's a good looking man.

Regarding Mike Huckabee's comments...does that means Bristol and Levi fucking was an act of holy righteousness?

March 5, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAndrew R.

Andrew R -- i'm not sure it means that it was a holy act but all right wingers are exempt from immorality claim. because, see, they feel guilty about it! it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission ;)

How lucky, I´ve been obsessing about her since Water Drops on Burning Rocks then she killed me in swimming pool very sexy performance, that scar in her abdomen! she is flawless, she should do another musical definitely, Chansons d´amour was awesome and 8 femmes as well, she should reunite with Benoit Magimel definitely great chemistry in Girl Cut in Two. Very cool youre meeting her.

March 5, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjjablo

Loved her in Swimming Pool and Gouttes d'eau.

PS Those Leivobitz pics are hideous!

March 6, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

I don't understand how anybody can call what Annie Leibovitz does photography anymore. That entire image, other than Latifah's head, is CGI. And even that is highly Photoshopped.
