First and Last: Slapped and Cut Loose.

the first and last images from a motion picture.

Can you guess the movie?

Give up or just want to check the answer? It's after the jump...

"Slapped and cut loose" is a line from the very beginning referring to a baby being born. The baby we're following is...

NICHOLAS NICKLEBY (2002) guessed by Step. Congrats.

Why does the last shot look so familiar and yet I don't think I've seen this film?!

March 7, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCity_Of_Lights

I'm almost positive it's Finding Neverland.

Looks like Neverland but is it Gosford Park?

March 7, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDino

Doesn't Finding Neverland end on a close up of Freddy Highmore?

March 7, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterZach J.

The Village.

It's Nicholas Nickleby. Until now, I'd kind of convinced myself that I was the only person who remembered this movie. Huh.

finding neverland for sure!

Joe K -- as it turns out you are not the only one. It's funny how anonymous this could be though. so many period pieces end with those outdoor celebrations (note the chain of people)

I'm fairly certain it's Nicholas Nickelby, but the odd thing is - it took me a full 24 hours (I saw this yesterday) to realize it. I don't know if that says more about the film (largely forgettable) or my memory (like a sieve) - but I cannot possibly forget Juliet Stevenson's wicked turn in it.
