Mimi Rogers Would Like To Remind You...

... that The Rapture isn't all its cracked up to be. It's kind of a letdown, actually.

* This obscure joke is brought to you by 1991, twenty years prior to the "end of the world". Yes, Yes, 1991 was a ridiculously strong Best Actress year but Mimi Rogers still rocked that part, people. She really did.

Ha, Nathaniel, you mind reader! I'm going to watch this film for the first time tonight, in honour of the day.

All this damn rapture talk had me thinking about this movie yesterday, so much so that I looked it up on Amazon (it's really cheap). I've always wanted to see it, it's on my list of movies to get (yes there's a list), so I might just take this as a sign that I need to snatch it up! Especially since I've always liked Mimi Rogers and I've heard from many folks that this particular performance is her best.

Mimi Rogers ruled in THE RAPTURE! 1991 was a terrific year for the Best Actress race and when I read the nominations I was most of all sorry for Annette Bening being snubbed for her work in BUGSY, but also Rogers deserved more! What a pity that after this wonderful perf she hasn't found any other so interesting roles...after all the others Cruise's exs became Oscar Winners after breaking up, Rogers could have been at least an Oscar Nominee

Rogers is the one who introduced him to Sciencetology. She deserves what she got "the shaft" which every other actress in the business not named Meryl receives.

That reminds me, had Clint Eastwood not cast Streep in Bridges would she have the comeback and stayback she has now?

it's not easy to answer but for sure we could say that every actresses over 40 tried to get the MADISON COUNTY role, even if Eastwood claimed that Streep was his first and only choice

I seem to remember reading that The Rapture had been pre-released before theatrical distribution (like The Last Seduction) and so was ineligible for nominations. Although I may not be remembering this correctly. Rogers was great in The Rapture, and Will Patton in supporting delivers one of the best scenes ever.
