Yes, No, Maybe So: "Green With Envy"
Most of the time the lack of trailers at critic screenings is a wondrous blessing. I used to love watching trailers before movies but now that they show 7 to 8 of them before a feature and do so after commercials it feels like every movie is 3 hours long now. Still I really wish I'd seen the trailer to Green With Envy in front of Pirates of the Caribbean (review) this weekend...
I am crazy in love with the bait & switch here. Get to looking right now if you haven't yet seen it.
Regarding Green With Envy... just for fun as it doesn't actually exist... are you a Yes, No or a Maybe So?
- I'd love to say Yes given the warm (felt) fuzzies coming off this trailer but it looks so generic. Yes, I know that's part of the joke. But still... the world needs no more generic romcoms. The genre needs another Annie Hall level game changer, right?
Regarding The Muppets... Yes, No or Maybe So?
- I feel nothing but eternal affirmatives whenever Miss Piggy is near. I purchased a ticket for this in perpetuity when I was 5.

Did Amy "get" that the joke was also on her? Just saying..
I'm a "No" re: Green etc
and a "No idea yet" re:Muppets.
You had me at Muppets. Yes, please.
Great teaser. Love it. LOVE IT. "Kermit the fr...frog"
I'm a hearty yes for the Muppets movie, but as much as I loved this trailer, if Green With Envy were real, you could not pay me to see it. And that's coming from a staunch Amy Adams fan. In fact, I'd warn my dear Amy far away from the color green for a long long time, lest someone remember the monstrosity of Leap Year...
I have never seen a Muppets movie in the theater. What's more, I had despaired of ever getting to do so after Muppet Treasure Island. This is an EMPHATIC yes with a Muppet Show marathon appetizer.
No. I have to grow up.
YES for the Muppets!
Yes. Amy Adams. 'Nuff said.
great, Amy Adams is playing the sweet and innocent role for the 10th time, groundbreaking
So judgmental of Amy Adams, Yavor, and yet not a word on the typecasting of Miss Piggy.
I love Amy Adams and the Muppets (I had the Muppet movie soundtracks on 8-track and would listen to them constantly when I was a kid) but this is just wrong. Jason Segel has turned into a creepy puppet guy and this is not a true Muppet movie, nor a good romantic comedy. Leap Year is a better film I can already tell. Thanks but no thanks...I'm passing on this and sad that for all the hype this is what we get.
Is it me, or Amy Adams was born to be in a Muppet movie?
yes yes yes yes yes. a thousand times yet.
the only thing that would make it better is Seth Green.
No to Amy Adams. I honestly can't stand her in those wide-eyed cutie-patootie roles anymore.
Maybe yes to the Muppets.
City of Lights... umm, what? "this is not a true Muppet movie, nor a good romantic comedy"? So you've seen it then.
You do realise this central "Green with Envy" formulaic romcom is most certainly a big ruse, right?
oh, i didn't see the twist coming at all - my interest went from zero to complete so fast i think i injured myself
What par3182 said - I was complete NO until Kermit appeared - then other Muppets, then - it looks like big "dancing in the street" production number? Oh YES.
I know I need to grow up. Sue me.
@James T: Yeah, judging from this I'd say she was definitely in on the joke poking fun at her own persona/typecasting.
/3rtfull -- there is no point in growing up when it comes to the Muppets. Embrace your inner felt-loving child.
Lara -- but will you be able to separate them?
I'd actually like to see a Muppet version OF amy adams, wouldn't you?
Umm....how can you say no to the Muppets??. Seriously, this trailer left me smiling all day - true story. It's a HELL YES for me!
Nathaniel, LOL, I'm working on that.
(Now I feel sorry for her. Why? blaaaare!)
Another Leap Year? I'll watch it since it is Amy Adams.
Lara,
She's famous for that wide eye look, that's her signature.
Awesome!
Glenn Dunks - Actually I do know the B plot which actually involves the Muppets because I know a few people who worked on the film. Let's just say we've seen it before. You cannot mash together old Muppet storylines and a romcom which looks from the trailer like it was written by a 10 year old and call it a movie!
Jason Segel is phoning it in every which way: this movie, How I Met Your Mother. Fine, he's made his money and he can do what he wants but I call it like I see it.
Full disclosure: I still have my 1985 Red Fraggle doll. I have no intentions of ever parting with it: it's mine! My favorite Muppet Movie is The Great Muppet Caper. The first and last theatrical Muppet Movie I saw had Michael Caine in it as Ebenezer Scrooge. I love Muppet Babies most of all because I'm an 80's baby.
Are people even WATCHING the trailer? I mean, honestly...
lololol of course that YES.
the muppets will be one of the best movies of the year and jason segel can take your first nomination to oscar with one of the songs of this movie:D (everybody remember the dracula´s lament of "forgetting sarah marshall"?)
and amy it´s perfect for this profect:D
and the joke with green with envy are amazing, and i have the same feeling when i saw the trailer of "enchanted", so probably i will love the muppets:D
Glenn I'm seeing a lot of parody (of rom-coms, etc) but maybe I'm crediting Disney with too much hip irony here? What am I missing that you're seeing? (Or am I crediting the stuff that looks bad as "intentional"?)
Isn't Miss Piggy's wig, etc meant to be a riff on Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada?"
