But soft! What link through yonder blogpost breaks?

Just Jared it's official: Aishwarya Rai, will finally pass her gorgeous genes on. She and star hubbt Abhishek Bachchan are expecting their first child.
I Need My Fix
Ian McShane joins the cast of Snow White and the Hunstmen as the leader of the dwarves. Unless they've TOTALLY changed the story, I'm confused. Isn't he contractually obligated to only play evil characters?
Jewish Journal
talks to James Franco about his new film The Broken Tower in which he plays gay poet Hart Crane. Good interview.
The Wrap interviews John Slattery on his fascinating Mad Men character Roger Sterling. Can he finally win the Emmy this year?
La Daily Musto [NSFW] claims these are Burt Lancaster nudes unveiled but it's hard to trust any nude photos in the age of photoshop.
Playbill Angela Bassett coming to Broadway with Samuel L Jackson for Mountaintop.

Booth & Steinfeld (maybe they're going for a brother/sister vibe this time?)Finally... In case you haven't heard it's contractual by law that every generation get their own Romeo and Juliet. Or thereabouts. There was kind of a big gap between Franco Zeffirelli's (1968) and Baz Luhrmann's (1996) but it's basically a perennial. Perhaps because it's Shakespeare it's never a grotesque matter of 'rebooting' so much as "hey, we haven't done that one in a while!"

Variety reports that we have our new Romeo and Juliet and it's 19 year old British actor Douglas Booth and 15 year-old Hailee Steinfeld for the new version, scripted by Julian Fellowes. If you ask me they're never going to be able to top Baz's psychovisual poetry or the doubleplusgood acting of Leo + Claire but here's a bright note: Holly Hunter as Nurse!!!

I've only seen Douglas Booth on the arm of Naya Rivera at the SAG's but I approve because...look at him! I'm less than impressed with Steinfeld's casting. I'm the only one around oscar season who was displeased with her O-nomination and performance. Hopefully she can prove she has chops to me with this.

Perhaps this is the Romeo and Juliet that can sit in the same room as Zeffirelli's version. (No insult meant to Baz's version... well, a bit of insult. I can't stand it.) I love Fellowes and Stanfield, but this director, Carlo Carlei, worries me. Not exactly a promising filmography.

I'd only heard of Booth as Naya Rivera's arm-candy at SAG, so this is obviously a big step up.

Good writer, good cast.

I saw Franco's film yesterday. It is simpliy unwatchable. and yes SPOILER alert, he sucks d**k in a very Brown Bunny way in it.

Gorgeous Rome and Juliet, but really...another one so soon? I guess there are now kids who don't even know of Baz's version.

Really Christian? So it is a film I want to see soon. (I know, I'm a pervert. Especially with Franco)

^ Hahah, I know right. If James Franco sucks d**k, I'm not sure it's unwatchable for me....lol

Cristhian -- i think if it were in a Brown Bunny way, it would be fully visible, unsimulated and it's all any of the blogs would be talking about today ;) so... perhaps it's more like a [insert many other movies with highly suggestive but not actual visuals

Yes yes ... But who is playing Mercutio? That's all I care about.

I'm a little worried about Hailee Steinfeld's choices. I was really hoping she would make some fun movies she would have liked to see in theatres. Sort of do an Anna Paquin post-Oscar thing right now.

Well, you see his mouth and his face and you see something going in his mouth.. it may be a dildo, but he goes there and he seems to enjoy it..

June 22, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCristhian

Um, the Zeffirelli version of Romeo & Juliet remains the gold standard in my opinion. I saw it when I was about 12 years old (and the film was just a handful of years old), and I was mesmerized from beginning to end. Such passion. Baz's version was okay, but still...

Yes, my dreams almost came true!!!... lol. I think I will enjoyed the film in a good or bad way :P. Also how is the scene between James Franco and Michael Shannon?
