Marge Never Stood A Chance

Photobucket

JA from MNPP here - René Clément's Purple Noon played at MoMA here in New York yesterday and those lucky enough to get in to the sold-out show had a giant wall of that staring at them. SIGH. Can you imagine? I love Matt Damon's performance in Minghella's 1999 Talented Mr. Ripley, but it for me it never quite had that... this. The sensation that "Okay yes Tom I am completely hypnotized now I will do whatever you say eyes eyes eyes oh my god eyes yes whatever you say." I like that this.

The scene where Alain Delon kisses himself in the mirror was beyond perfect, I think it made me astrally project into the screen with sheer unadulterated lust.

the most beautiful eyes on a man

I've never seen Purple Noon, but he and Monica Vitti in Antonioni's L'Eclisse was an amazing combination.

He's gorgeous. I love the look of 60s movie stars. Its a quality lost forever in subsequent decades.

I'll be dreaming about Zac Efron's eyes. Strange: I've always considered men with brown eyes and dark hair to be the ultimate; but, blue eyes on a dark haired man can actually penetrate the heart further.

Purple Noon is in my top ten favorite movies of all times. So happy that there is a post on it. So sad that I couldn't get to NYC to see it on the big screen. However, Delon is so mesmerizing he's almost wrong for the part. I mean, other than money, why would Tom want to change places with Dickie? Tom is already Alain Delon for goodness sake. How much better could his life get?

Hands down, the most beautiful man to ever appear onscreen (yes, including Paul Newman).

"the most beautiful man to ever appear onscreen (yes, including Paul Newman)" - I second that. He is just so this. I do like Matt Damon, but the whole time watching "the talented Mr Ripley" I was just thinking he's no Alain Delon Alain Delon Alain Delon
