Pfeiffer on the Move...

Michelle Pfeiffer sightings are so rare that we must share each and every one of them. The Power of Pfandom Compels Us. She arrived in LAX two days ago so these pap' shots cropped up. Where was she coming from?

She's got her passport so my guess is a break from Dark Shadows (2012) filming in London? Or maybe she's done already. You never know.

The latest from Tim Burton is an adaptation of the cult favorite soap opera about the matriarch of a troubled family (Michelle Pfeiffer) on a crumbling creepy estate. Her centuries-old vampire relative returns (Johnny Depp). Jude Law bestie/Angelina Jolie ex Johnny Lee Miller plays Pfeiffer's brother and the ubiquitous Chloe Moretz her rebellious daughter. Most promisingly, Helena Bonham Carter plays her live in psychiatrist. A live in psychiatrist! Oh the thrilling actressy neuroses that portends.

(Don't you love how I just described the entire movie like it's about Pfeiffer when it's really all about Depp!?! I'm gifted at self-deception!)

The movie will arrive on May 11th, 2012 and no matter the quality it will make a bajillion dollars and win the Art Direction Oscar which Burton movies always do no matter how gaudy and McGothic they end up looking!

Pfeiffer's 'Dark Shadows' home... under construction

I miss the days when the thought of a new Tim Burton was exciting. Though perhaps we should be hopeful. He did direct that iconic Catwoman performance afterall and Pfeiffer has always had a knack for elevating genre pieces (see: Catwoman, What Lies Beneath, Ladyhawke, Witches of Eastwick, Wolf, etcetera)

Are you excited about Dark Shadows or have you just given up with Burton?

Alice in Wonderland was god awful but didn't you love Sweeney Todd? That was only what 2 films ago? I am willing to forgive Burton if this one is good..everyone makes mistakes haha

Does anything think the tone of the movie will be intentionally campy like the show? Or do you think they are going for serious?

I finally got to see Alice in Wonderland. The movie for the most part is unwatchable but HBC is the film's only highlight has the big headed queen, literally! I also like the cinematography for some reason but it was super dark and contrasty on my HD set up so that helped a great deal.

In the case of Michelle doing this project with Burton she's better off than Sigourney doing that vampire movie for Amy H. and Jessica Lange doing that horror TV show for Ryan Murphy. I say Michelle's real comeback is if she ever accepts new offers from guys like Tarantino and Aronofsky. Knowing her she'll say yes fastest to Gary Marshall again -- who legally shouldn't be allowed to make movies post-Pretty Woman.

Well your descriptions get me excited actually, especially the part Carter plays as the live in psychiatrist. It may feature the same old trio: Burton, Depp, and Carter, but they are fantastic plus add the flavor of Pfeiffer! Juicy!

Funny but sad.

I think DARK SHADOWS is the perfect project for Tim Burton. As you point out, Nat, at his best, Burton takes not-great material and elevates it considerably. And he's great at creating spooky-fun atmospheres. I'm dating myself, but I well remember watching the very first episodes of DARK SHADOWS. For some reason, they were telecast in late summer. I think the producers were completely unsure about how it would go over. And over the months and years, even as the show got more and more gossamer and hokey, it still held a considerably large audience. I can't wait to see what Burton brings to the table.

@ 3rtfu11 - You mean post "Frankie and Johnny".

I never saw Dark Shadows on TV and coupled with my current dislike for Tim Burton movies, I am not that excited about the whole project.

No Bennie -- Jon Avnet should've directed with Kathy Bates in the lead and some ugly character actor as her love interest since nobody could believe Bates with an attractive man unless he's playing a wife beating, child molesting drunk ala David "he's still hot no matter what" Strathairn -- laughs, I haven't seen Frankie and Johnny, I have no I idea of how good it is. I just really dislike Gary Marshall in any creative position.

What is she doing with Teri Garr?

What is she doing with Teri Garr?

Doing a film together called "We've Only Just Begun".

I hate Tim Burton, specially after he decided to destroy one my all time favorite musicals, Sweeney Todd.

The problem with Tim Burton is that he thinks he's Tim Burton. We get it, film noir, wacky angles and protagonists with bad teeth.

I only wish that Pfeiffer can make more action films and comedies and less drama. Cant wait to see her win the oscar!!!!! MICHELLE PFEIFFER- BEST ACTRESS.
