Princess Leia "I'm Going to Disneyland!"

she'll fit right in.

The news travelled 'cross the web faster than hyper speed earlier tonight. Princess Leia has found a new home at Disney, the Mouse House having purchased all things Lucasfilm for a wee $4 billion and stock.

One day Disney will own the entire world but it's okay because corporations are people. And you'd totally be okay if one person owned the entire world, right??? Pray that your future corporate overlord will be a benevolent dictator... who giggles a lot and wears mouse ears.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Quest For More Billions, or whatever they'll eventually name it, is aiming for a 2015 release. That's quick. I hope they have a screenwriter already typing away. And I hope that screenwriter's name is not George Lucas.

The best part of this news is the Star Wars ride possibilities at amusement parks are endless. The worst part of this news is that the Star Wars franchise is already so over-exposed and now it'll be even worse! What Disney's done to Tinkerbell depresses me virtually every day and what horrible ubiquitous personality-changing fate might lie in store for Leia or the Ewoks or Jabba the Hut or (gasp) Jar Jar Binks.

If the new film is not set too far into the future following Return of the Jedi, will Princess Leia resurface and if so who on earth could play her? Let's do an impromptu Cast This! Ideally though, they'd go with all new characters and let Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford do cameos as their classic trio many years on.

Ubiquitous Jennifer Lawrence, Alex Pettyfer as her brother, and stealing the movie from them Ryan Gosling.

But I guess Disney would asexualize their characters, so they could go to Elle Fanning, the obnoxious kid in Once Upon a Time and a badass Justin Bieber (if that exists).

Well, if it is an imediate sequel, an obvious choice would be Emma Watson. I mean, if she's willing to go on another massive pop franchise.

Oh and Evan Peters as Luke and Garret Hedlund as Han.

Lucas only wrote treatments to the new films and they are being handed to other writers. His role in the new films is that of a "creative consultant". Anyway, my guess is that they'll just create whole new characters and only Hamill's Luke Skywalker will show up out of the original cast. However, if they do use the original three lead characters and re-cast them then I imagine they'd go with complete unknowns. Any recognizable faces like Bieber would cause riots... lead by me, lol.

Anyway, I'm very excited to see more films but I do worry that they'll get a Brett Ratner or someone of that ilk to direct.

OMG @iggy anyone but the kid in Once Upon A Time! If I had my way he would have already been sacrificed for the greater good on that crazy show and happily disappeared into Former Child Star Obscurity where he belongs.

I'm thinking Amanda Seyfreid for Leia, Anton Yelchin or Eddie Redmayne for Luke, and a reincarnated Heath Ledger for Han. If they can't figure out the logistics on that last one, then maybe Taylor Kitsch? Lord knows he's been trying harder than anyone for a big box office hit. That said if they scrap the roles, it would be cool to see some people of color up on that starship. I could have used a whole lot more Idris Elba in Prometheus if you know what I'm saying.

I just want a Mickey - Obi Wan- Iron Man lightsaber battle. Is that too much to ask? Can one dream?

Wait: If they're actually doing ep VII, is it going to be a stab at the Thrawn Trilogy? Even if that isn't what Lucas has written treatments for, I wouldn't be surprised that an Heir to the Empire adaptation is the end result.

I keep seeing Cat Denning as Leia. I think she'd be appropriately acidic as a woman hooked up with Han Solo.

Man, did I get her name wrong or what? Kat Dennings!

Can they just give all the hundreds of millions they are going to spend on this to a charitable cause a call it a day!

Dear Disney,
One small request if you simply must make three more Star Wars movies: let someone from Pixar-- but not the Cars crew-- write the scripts.

Thanks,
A concerned moviegoer
