The Girl With the CDG Statue

Awwwww, Clint Eastwood looks so happy at the Costume Design Guild Awards. They were honoring Deborah Hopper (second from left) and the man himself with their "Distinguished Collaborator" Award. (Many of the guilds like to honor directors outside their own profession at their particular ceremonies... but we like this joint award definition since films are such team efforts.)

This photo is giving me such 2003 flashbacks with Mystic River's Marcia Gay Harden and The Last Samurai's Ken Watanabe all snuggled up with Clint and Deborah.

Strangely Hopper has never been Oscar nominated despite working with such an Oscar magnetized director. Not even those cloche hats from Changeling won her a shortlist spot. She's been working with Clint since Space Cowboys (2000).

This year's winners, more photos, and a fun "Revenge" moment after the jump.

Jane Lynch hosted this year's event and you can see her pictured with Glee costumers Eyrich and Eve. The very cool woman behind all those great Dragon Tattoo fashions Trish Summerville is pictured with Rooney Mara.

WINNERS
Contemporary Film Trish Summerville for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Period Film Arianne Phillips for W.E. (see our interview)
Fantasy Film Jany Temime for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Contemporary TV Series Lou Eyrich and Jennifer Eve for Glee
TV Movie/Miniseries Susannah Buxton for Downton Abbey
Period TV Series John A Dunn and Lisa Padovini for Boardwalk Empire.

Finally, the cast of Revenge was out in force at this event and I can't get enough of this particular photo and the show memory it pulls back into mind.

Let that smile be a reminder of just how much I despise you; that everytime I hug you? The warmth you feel is my hatred burning through."

Oh god I love Revenge so much. Don't you?

Revenge! It's so fun. Madeleine Stowe, wonderful of course, but I think Emily van Camp deserves lots of credit too for being able to pull off that Emmanuel Kant once said passion is a cup of boiling lava but revenge is an icecream sandwich ridiculousness with such grace.

Also, you know what show has amazing contemporary costume design? Justified. I've just caught up with it recently and was struck by how perfect the costuming is for the actors and the characters and the setting- it would definitely have been deserving of a nomination.

Although Joshua Bowman is super cute and Madeleine Stowe is super mean, I stopped watching "Revenge" after episode 4.

Rooney Mara looks fantastic. Not happy with Marcia's face, or is it just the picture?

Peggy Sue -- it's just the picture, he looks just like herself still. And Revenge has only gotten better as it's gone along. why on earth did you quit?

Thanks! I love Marcia's face just as it is. She should have been in Polanski's Carnage.

Does it? I'll try to catch up then. I thought the structure was a little too repetitive, now this guy on the picture and now this one...

Peggy -- i was also concerned with the structure but they stopped doing that one revenge a week format, thank god.
