JGL + ScarJo ?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on his way to becoming an actor/director. His first dual effort behind and in front of the camera will be a romantic comedy. Interesting choice and one we applaud because lord knows that genre needs fresh voices. Scarlett Johansson is his co-star of choice though apparently there's a second female lead (as yet uncast). JGL will play a lothario. Will ScarJo or the other leading lady reform him? Hopefully this one will skirt the misogyny that was the only thing really dragging the otherwise charming 50/50 down.

I'm hoping Joe and ScarJo will find a way to sing together since it's the one thing they totally have in common besides being, you know, gorgeous movie stars.

Initially I had trouble picturing the two stars together given that he is slim and long and she is short and voluptuous. I'm use to picturing her with much much beefier men (like her shortlived marriage) but after my initial shock I'm liking the idea. Contrast can be very attractive...

On the other hand it may be tough to top his more twinnish love pairing with Zooey Deschanel. [I am always rooting for a "Zoooey" reunion --where are we at with (500) Days of Summer right now? It went through such a weird love/hate thing with the internets --  but with "New Girl" a hit on TV, there's little chance of her returning to the big screen in major roles anytime soon.]

The film starts shooting in April. I wonder if she's still in for that John Carney (Once) movie that was supposed to start shooting this summer called Can A Song Save Your Life? Two movies in a row where Scarlett may actually be acting instead of just posing?! Exciting. Maybe But never fear. Lots of posing coming up as well in The Avengers (2012) -- recently discussed -- and Iron Man 3 (2013).

JGL stars in Premium Rush which hits theaters a month after The Dark Knight Rises

As for JGL, he's about to have a Jessica Chastain crazy year. Scratch that. A bigger year than that. In addition to directing his first feature he's co-starring in five more, three of them among the year's most anticipated features: Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises and Steven Spielberg's Lincoln

Which upcoming project are you most excited for?

He's my favorite actor, so I'm excited. I'm probably most excited for ScarJo to get a good role, but I also can't wait for Batman or Django (which I didn't know he was in!).

the Tarantino project definitely. I still can't think of JGL as attractive, he is still that little kid from 3rd Rock that I feel dirty for even making my mind go there.

For some reason, I think Scarlett and Joseph will make such a charming on-screen duo of lovers. JGL is extremely versatile and it will be nice to see him as a "Don Juan" and ScarJo is a nice eye-candy, but she can be really good when she has the right material ("Ghost World", "Lost In Translation" or "Girl With Pearl Earring"), which turns this project in something really interesting.

I'm really curious about how will Tarantino use JGL in "Django Unchained"... it is by far one of the most exciting upcoming movies of 2012 (people know TDKR will be good, but Django may be just different)

I'm looking forward to anything except Premium Rush. I saw that trailer at some point and thought it looked horrible. Maybe it'll surprise, but right now it looks like a terrible career move.

I'm all for Scarlett actually acting again, she has made it very hard for me to defend her these past few years. I'

I'm kind of over Zooey, she now seems permanently stuck in manic pixie dream girl mode to the point where she is now playing the role in real life.

Don't forget the new Jonathan Glazer film - her role may be more of a 'presence' type of role than the need for much acting but still, at least Johansson is working with an auteur again.

Most excited for? If I'm to be perfectly honest which JGL project has me most interested, I'd have to say Looper. It's a very weird sounding movie about JGL playing a guy questioning whether or not to kill his future self.

Most excited for Django and Batman. Least excited for... this directorial debut thing, which sounds like a classic actor's vanity project. Surprise surprise, another young actor who wants to make a movie about what a hot, irresistible piece of ass he is.

Batman excitement has nothing to do with him and everything to do with Hathaway.

The Tarantino movie excitement also has nothing to do with him. He's sexy, beautiful and talented--isn't that enough?

His big movies aren't going to be special because he's in them--he's eyecandy for the ensembles--not the secret weapon.

Please, ScarJo's style of acting has always been "posing", even whe she is great. She is not a traditional actress - she's the type of actress that you hire when you need to express an idea, certain feelings, mas without much detail, you know?

She is alwys posing, and that's why she really needs to work with the right directors to work onscreen. Her image needs ideas/feelings from the director to project them. If her director is shallow or doesn't use her as an avatar, she will certainly be shallow.

So, Scarjo, keep posing, for the right people.

Just saw "50/50" day and while the treatment of Bryce Dallas Howard was a bit off-putting, I absolutely loved the film. LOVED it. Real tears and everything, and not just of the "duh, cancer is sad" variety. Also helps that Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen are two of my favourites.

As for Joseph... I'd love for him and Johansson to make some sweet music together.
