Nathan he has done re-writes before making it the shooting script. What we have isn't the shooting script. It's the green light script.
I've been very impressed with the marketing for Prometheus. Its about time for Ridley Scott to have another great movie. I've always been so hot and cold with him and his movies.
Re Tim Roth - my favorite movie of his is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, with Gary Oldman as R and Roth as G, based on the play by Tom Stoppard. I also love the unloved Youth Without Youth. I have the Criterion DVD of The Hit, a 1984 Stephen Frears movie where Roth is so young he looks barely formed. He won the BAFTA Best Newcomer for that one.
I'd go with his Vincent in Altman's Van Gogh. Even though you don't like biopics, that performance is an exception, right? It's so original, like no one else inhabited that skin before.
Tim Roth: probably Rob Roy. But he really is amazing in Van Gogh, who I've rather fallen hard for after watching the Doctor Who episode and reading the astonishing biography by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith.
I know this might be a bit "strange but conventional" but I have to stick with Reservoir Dogs for best Tim Roth performance. People's choices for "best performance" usually go for something more typically "actorly", (which is part of why the Academy falls for Biopics so gosh-darn much), but he's excellent as one of the two leads (the other being Harvey Keitel) of Reservoir Dogs, even if it's not what people typically think of as "Great Acting". Haven't seen Rob Roy or Van Gogh yet, though.
I so happily clicked on the Streep link and sourly found out Awards Daily is still in the running for snarkiest "industry" blog this side of Finke. Every couple of months I go back and read some new articles only to find that there's good reason why I don't read up on what Sasha and Ryan have to say. But, following their motto, I've realized that the trick is not minding.
I tend to tell everyone to stay away from Awards Daily.....
After reading the hostile Awards Daily narrative Ryan came up with on Streep and Hope Springs, I will no longer visit that site. Talk about nasty, sour grapes...
Interestingly enough, it was a link from "Awards Daily" (before the legal flap with AMPAS that caused the name change from "Oscarwatch") that led me to read "The Film Experience" for the first time. Haven't stopped by there a lot since.
While I liked the series "Lie to Me" and his performance in it, I suspect that Tim Roth is proudest of "Vincent and Theo". I did not even remember until I checked IMDB that he was in "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover". And I do not remember Ciaran Hinds in it at all.
Glad to see I'm not alone in ditching Awards Daily. It has become such a hostile place that I don't mind them losing a few readers.
Yes, Awards Daily is over-the-top-snark about Streep. Funny because anything Streep gets the most traffic/posts. Since the Oscars my comments are always monitored and sometimes they don't even post. I think I've been banned. I guess I don't behave, but, whatever. Rarely do I visit the site these days anyway.
Imagine a place on the internet where Meryl Streep isn't special! Thank God that bitch continues to get a free pass. I use this post as an excuse to refer to your precious queen as a bitch.
