Disney Parks

When's the last time you went to a movie amusement park? For reasons I can't figure I was having multiple flashbacks about Disney World today. Maybe it's because summer is on the way?

I've only ever been once, a treat from my best friend on my birthday. I had such a blast and I was a total freak about running around to take photos with the characters I loved even though it was two million degrees out and I looked terrible (not a summer person). I was talking to Mary Poppins when Sleeping Beauty appeared and I was like 'bye bitch' (not really) but I bolted for Aurora because, duh, best princess. I might be mixing up the series of events because it was quite overwhelming for days and days.

Share your Disney stories in the comments. Should I go again? Any new rides of note?

My favorite photo from the trip was with Peter Pan & Wendy who I've always loved both as a pair and separately.

Why was I thinking about this today? It matters not.

I live in Florida so I've been a few times.

But....Aurora best princess???? WHAT! Lol, she's the worst! She literally does nothing but sleeps the entire time. BORE-RING! She's pretty, I guess, but totally basic.

...I guess I just prefer the princesses that save themselves and don't sleep through their movies. Hehe.

For me Ariel is the best princess tough I think Prince Philip is the best prince...

I've only been at Disneyland twice, the first when I was a kid and loved the fireworks (it was a 4th of July) and my favorite part of the second trip was the company actually (my ex) but I had a blast at the Christmas Parade and Show at night.

So, my parents want to take me, my husband, and our 14 month-old daughter on a Disney Cruise, and I just can't do it. I grew up in California and went to Disneyland a bizallion times and it never stopped creeping me out. I was an introvert, andI was always worried that Disney characters would pop up out of nowhere and do some sort of broad pantomine and hug me. So taking photos with characters is pretty much my worst nightmare.

"Bye, Bitch" hahahaha that's hilarious

True story: I got separated from my parents at Disney World when I was 5, and was found by Goofy and Pluto (or the two college kids dressed up as them). They wheeled me around in my stroller while I sobbed uncontrollably trying to find my rents. Thankfully, they returned me safe and sound.

(And the "Bye, bitch" line had me laughing so hard !)

You are so right about Peter Pan being the best ride. I recently went again last year with my 11-year-old brother and I was so exhausted from the heat and running around that I was like "WE MUST GO TO PETER PAN TO RELAX!" It's one of the few air conditioned rides, so I was thankful, but my bro fell asleep . . . kids these days.

If you can hold out for another two years, they're really revamping the Florida parks. They're importing the Little Mermaid ride and building a Snow White roller coaster. There's also going to be new castles/restaurants/meet and greets inspired by Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Epcot might get around to adding Brazil as a permanent installation by then and they're revamping the Test Track ride with a Tron theme. Animal Kingdom should have some fantasy-themed rides (Avatar or not remains to be seen) and MGM/Disney Pixar Studios is supposed to get some new shows.

Of course, the big question is whether or not the Winnie the Pooh ride was there when you went. It's fantastic.

I want to eat all three of you in that picture and wear Peter's outfit but in the color of Wendy's dress.

Have you checked out 'Peter and the Starcatcher' yet? LOVED it.. both book series and play. 9 Tony nods this morning... most of any play.

I know Disney is totally evil, but I grew up in Florida and I go nuts for Disney World. I love, love, love it. I have two new nieces on the way and I hope to be there when they go for the first time. I really am dying to go soon. Have yet to go to the Animal Kingdom.

I actually went a year and a half ago - although my man and I were really in Florida for the Harry Potter stuff at Universal. We only went to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, but had a total blast.

Best character moment: We were taking a breather on the People Mover in Tomorrowland and I saw Stitch doing a photo op down below and I went BESERK. As soon as we were back to the loading/unloading area I had my own "Bye, bitch!" moment with my man and ran down to get a picture with Stitch. Why that crazy little blue alien gets me so excited, I will never know.

Love this post. It's as if you're posting about your sightings at the celebrity-filled movie parties you attend. "I was talking to Mary Poppins when..."

But the best Disney Princess is Belle. I had a mini-crush on her as a seven year old.. And you just know that with all that love for books and culture, she'd totally be into Oscar films.

I went to Disneyland in the early 60's and only remember the 'river ride thru the jungle'... not much of a jungle then as most of the trees were still sticks.
The most 'recent' trip was in the mid 80's with clients from Malaysia. We went on one ride (with Its a Small World' music piped throughout), and then to the Souvenir Shop for three hours...buying for everyone in the State of Panang.
