The whole Jimmy Kimmel show was HILARIOUS.
The lap dance—so sexy. I want to see the craft interview she does in a year where she talks about how "I just gave myself over to it; you know, I broke a rib doing that show but I kept lap dancing. It was like a love affair."

For those who watched the whole show: Wouldn't that be an amazing cast for a movie? Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Robin Williams, Amy Adams and Nicole Kidman. We can spare Reese Witherspoon and Demi Moore, though. ;)
Sad man - Emily Blunt and Ben Affleck can be in it, and the soundtrack could be done by Sheryl Crow. Result!

I loved the Kimmel spot. My fav moment was when Demi dumped her coat on Reese. The looks on the faces of everyone on the couch said it all.
And I agree with Sad Man about the film, but I'ld keep Reese and Demi. They can be the ugly step sisters to Nic's Cinderella, Amy's good fairy, etc.
I won't admit how many times i've already watched that whole Kimmel Show. Matt Damon and Nicole Kidman are a dream team, they need to do a movie together.
Re the Weinstein piece, I don't know if providing screeners would have made a difference to the Academy. Django is just not a very Oscary movie. But he must have done something right because it's doing huge business. I thought the trailers were compelling. As for The Master, I don't know that any marketing would have helped. Whether you love it or hate it (I'm firmly in the latter category), it's just not a mass-market movie. The word of mouth alone killed its chances.

I hate talk shows, but this is amazing TV.
Even as a partisan of The Master, this movie could not be sold to the masses except maybe to promote very openly how Anderson is not following traditional conventions. Its old Hollywood aesthetic (therefore an assumption of also following old Hollywood conventions) that was very prevalent in the previews of the 70mm prints going out (that not everybody got as my art house theater got a digital transfer). I do wish some of the scenes and shots shown in the previews (just because some of them were so visually stunning) did make the final cut. I am glad it got produced and had people with deep pockets as fans but having more control over what is seen in the previews was not going to sell more tickets. At best it would make a larger amount of people more ticked off. I cannot imagine how anything beyond Anderson's own clips sold the film better in terms of what it was. On the other hand, Harvey's campaign of Silver Linings Playbook in the recent previews shows his 'magic' that just feeds into people's cynicism of that magic.

That's a good post on The Last Stand. I went for the exact same reason, pretty much completely agree on its strengths and weaknesses, and had a blast, even during the bad parts. I'm really bummed that the Arnold fans out there didn't turn up - or that they did, and there are just so few of us left.
I'm also really looking forward to Bullet to the Head. And Die Hard 12.
