Starring Angelina Jolie as... Michelle Pfeiffer?

Glenn here. Tell me I am not the only one who looked at this poster for Maleficent featuring Angelina Jolie clad entirely in deep, dark black and saw, rather, Michelle Pfeiffer. Every time I glance at the poster I see Pfeiffer, not Jolie. Is my mind playing tricks on me since, duh, I want Michelle Pfeiffer in everything? Or have they deliberately made Jolie look like her? Or am I just insane?

No matter who it stars, I'm excited to see Maleficent in cinemas in 2014. Are you? Nothing about Jolie's uber-diva pose on this poster is making me question the quality. If anything, it's giving the film a reputation within me that it can't possibly reach. In other words: I'm loving the poster. If nothing else at least Angie will look fabulous, and maybe Anne B. Sheppard will get a third Oscar nomination she (surprisingly?) didn't get for Inglourious Basterds. We're keeping an eye out!

I can tell it's Angelina but can definitely see the Michelle vibe. Either way it's a great poster and makes me more intrigued to see it than less.

I don't think it looks like Angie at all. I still love the poster, though.

You're projecting Pfeiffer which is understandable since the movies really do lose something when great actresses are infrequently working. And at a level that isn't remotely visible or relevant to us especially.

michelle pfeiffer surely would be a better choice (acting-wise).

Love the leather horns, but the cgi-eyes and the photo-shopped into oblivion face have me worried.

You're not projecting. I think it's this photo she took around the time of catwoman. i think it was for rolling stone. Same pose(ish) with huge high feathered collar obscuring her face. i can't find it at the moment but

YES

Glenn: Actually, I think this has a pretty good shot to be DELICIOUS. Paul "Batman: The Animated Series" Dini is one of the screenwriters, who will help balance out the issues of Linda Woolverton. (Linda Woolverton is good at cinematic narrative structure but is...questionable...when it comes to dialogue and characters (see also: Alice in Wonderland), but that's Dini's biggest strength.)

I don't see Pfeiffer but now I wish I did ;-)

No disrespect to Angie, though. I hope this'll be a role she can tear into and remind us of the actress she used to be.

I am not wild about either Pfeiffer or jolie, but I do see jolie!!!!!

It's her eyes. No one's eyes come close to Pfeiffer's hypnotic ones. She acts with her irises.

It's those cheekbones! Angie looks like she's been CGI enhanced a bit, but those crazy razor cut proportions are Michelle Pfeiffer's actual face.

It's the combination of the cheekbones AND the shape of the eyebrows. Reminds me of the Allure spread she did a few years ago for photographer Michael Thompson. Pic below:

I never noticed Michelle until you pointed her out. I see it. hahahah .

Looks more like Pfeiffer than Jolie. The trailer premiered today on GMA. Looks cool but a star-turn like Charlize's role in Snow White and the Huntsman, which, of course, was the best thing about that movie.
