Merry Christmas from The Film Experience!

Happy holidays to you and yours from the Nathaniel and team here at The Film Experience!

We'll be back tomorrow and you'll have way too many gifts to unwrap from December 26th through Oscar night (March 2nd) as we bring you Awards show coverage, Smackdowns (sorry for the wait), the film bitch awards (starting tomorrow!), a dozen more interviews, symposiums, podcasts, and a more detailed investigation of 2013's finest.

2014 coverage will start sooner than you're expecting, too. I want to say a big thank you to the studios advertising here this year: Disney, Paramount and the Weinstein Co. With their support and your subscription dollars (see sidebar) we have a higher budget for 2014 and Michael, Glenn and I will hit the Sundance Film Festival!  So be here daily for all the fun.

If you could have any actress hand-deliver you a gift today, who and what would it be?

If I were an eccentric millionaire, I would send that glorious The Hours triumvirate to deliver a "best website of 2013" to your doorstep, Nathaniel.

Jessica Chastain because she would also then post it on Facebook.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TFE!!!!!!!!!!

A phone call from Scarlett Johansson just to say "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year". I fell in love with her voice after going to see/hear Spike Jonze's "HER"

Merry Christmas to the whole TFE's team! You're the best.

Merry Christmas, to all film lovers everywhere! (Got "The Bishop's Wife" on the DVR for the next couple days...)

I second what Conrado said. And I would follow them around with a camera and make a documentary about it.

December 25, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSad man

Conrado & Sad Man -- that is incredibly sweet.

Everyone - thank you

Michelle Pfeiffer

A replica of her Oscar won because of a screenplay I wrote specially for her.

Did I go too far?

Merry Christmas everybody.

Fanny Ardant. Between the accent, the beauty and the smile, she can bring me anything she wants......as long as it looks like the love child of Daniel Craig, Rupert Penry-Jones and Alfie Thomas.

Merry Christmas to all and thanks Nat and team for keeping me amused and informed.

Amazing coverage this year. Glad the advertisement is going well. And Merry Christmas!

(Also, what the heck is even coming out in 2014?! The Nolan, the Anderson, Foxcatcher ... ?!)

December 25, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJake D

I would have Meryl give me one of her Oscars.... And world peace.

Merry Christmas!!!!

December 25, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJamie

Deborah Lee Furness - cos I want her and her hubby Hugh Jackman to apologise for posing for happy snaps with the rightwing conservative mongrel PM of Australia.

December 25, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBette Streep

Meryl Streep can simply kiss me on the cheek (face). I'd be satisfied for life.

December 26, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterbrandz

@brandz

That would be the best gift ever. I'd stand right there behind you. ;)

Meryl Christm... eh Merry Christmas everyone!

Since the likes of Meryl, Nic, and ScarJo are taken, I will have Lea Michele bring me Jon Groff and a Happy Christmas to me! :)

Thanks for another year team!

Christmas is over, but I'd have liked Léa Seydoux with a bow. I guess now she can bring some bubbly and be a New Year's gift.

Happy Holidays to the Film Experience team! Thanks for another great year, can't wait to see what the next one brings! :)

Cate Blanchett arriving and giving me the job as her new assistant :)

December 26, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterManuel

Thank you, Nathaniel, TFE contributors (with a special shout out to Anne Marie for the Curios feature) and commenters for some great days of cinematic musings. Happy New Year!

PS--I want Emma T to invite me to a Grey Goose-inspired, girls-only slumber party with Meryl, Julianne M, Christine B, Catherine K, Melissa M, Tina, Amy, and Julia L-D, with the ghosts of Ava G and Barbara S (as Eve or Sugarpuss O'Shea) and maybe include Jennifer L for extra fun and youthfulness.

I'd like Louise Brooks show up at my door, dressed up with something for me to wear in a garment bag, and a sober companion. We'd go out to a showing of Pandora's Box and party after. The sober companion would make sure I didn't get lost and got home.
