"Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

Fess up!

Or maybe the answer will be obvious next Wednesday when we see your choice for "Best Shot" from The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Don't forget the 4th season of Hit Me With Your Best Shot begins next Wednesday evening, and most Wednesday evenings thereafter in spring and summer. Make it the biggest most festive season yet by playing along. All you need is a web place (facebook, blog, twitter, tumblr, youtube, whichever) to post your choice for the film's best shot with or without a reason why. You can choose from aesthetics, personal connection, thematic impact, etcetera. Beauty being in the eye of the beholder.

JOIN: March 6th (The Wizard of Oz); March 13th (Barbarella); March 20th (TBA); March 27th (Jackie Brown). Hit us and we'll hit you back!

Hey, nice blog with good info. I really like coming back here often. There?s only one thing that annoys me and that is the misfunctioning of comment posting. I usually get to 500 error page, and have to do the post twice. I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes ...

Nathaniel, couldn't we do Fellini's 8 1/2 for Hit Me this year?

It's from 1963 (50th birthday!) and it premiered in Italy in February and Cannes in May ;)

Other suggestions if you're considering them, all turn 50 years old this year:

From Russia with Love (one of the early Bonds, since we're still commemorating 50 years of Bond)
Mankiewicz's expensive epic Cleopatra with La Liz (23 March is the anniversary of her death)
Winter Light from Bergman (just because)

P.S. - And of course I'll join next wednesday ;)

The fact that 1963 is 50 years ago makes me think you probably should include something from that year like It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World or The Birds.

Other movies celebrating anniversaries of some kind that are well-shot include:
Safety Last! (1923)
The Crowd (1928)
King Kong (1933)
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
The Red Shoes (1948)
Shane (1953)
Gigi (1958)
How the West Was Won (1963)
Planet of the Apes (1968) or even 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
The Exorcist (1973)
Grease (1978)
Zelig (1983)
Beetlejuice (1988)
Jurassic Park (1993)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Big Fish (2003)

2001, The Red Shoes and Big Fish would be very fine additions to the series ;)

Hey Nat, just reminding you that we haven't done a Western yet.

I know that March 20th slot is just begging to be filled by "The Talented Mr. Ripley." :)

I have absolutely no suggestions, only a powerful lot of enthusiasm that this is starting up again. The best thing about being a film blogger is getting to play along.

I'm seeing "Wicked" in Orange County for the first time, so I'll be ready for this.

Definitely SHANE for the 50th anniversary. Musical - Showboat both 1936 and 1951.
