Visual Index ~ Barbarella Psychadella

This was such a hit with The Wizard of Oz, that I thought I'd do it for each new episode of Hit Me With Your Best Shot. The images will be arranged in chronological order as they happen in the film (for the most part... I mean, I can't vouch for total accuracy since Barbarella's plotting is... um... lacking and the imagery isn't easy to place in context).

In an attempt to be a more active participant this year, I did a shot for this one. You can find it here: http://allisontooey.livejournal.com/54086.html.

Do we know what the film for next week is yet?

I love this. (And your blog!) I just discovered barbarella last month and damn it is beyond amazing. Good job with the photos - my fave so far is the one with the seurat painting.

Nathan, what is happening in the last shot. Holy shit!

The Excessive Machine (which Barbarella breaks in the last shot because she is that hot) was really, um.... quite the rite of passage for wee CMG seeing it on a late night classic movie channel. "My goodness!" "Have you no shame?????"

I can't remember the film but the costuming and set design are gorgeous, really lush and artistic.

Barbarella was a hugely enjoyable choice for this series, not only because of the cult classic factor, but because there really were a lot of great shots to choose from.

As a side note - did anyone else think "Stanley Tucci in The Hunger Games" when Durand Durand finally appeared?
