Curio: Kate Curiosities

Alexa here. This Sunday I will not only celebrate Mother's Day but also the birthday of the inimitable (well, except by Catherine O'Hara) Katharine Hepburn with a viewing of Bringing Up Baby, Manic Pixieness be damned

Hepburn quote art, available here and here.

It's always been a goal of mine to follow her lead, except for the playing golf part, which I will never, ever do. She supplies all the wisdom any woman needs to get through life on quotes alone. After the jump, some Kate art, collectibles and curiosities... including a life mask?

Some examples of "collectible cigarette cards" featuring Kate at all stages of her career.
"Katharine Sails" print by TheArtisanVictor.

Fan art

A 1934 printing of Little Women featuring Kate, available here.

Kate-adjacent literature

Bringing Up Baby poster by Alex Kittle.

Vanity Fair cover poster available here.

And we'll end with something truly creepy...

...a life mask taken of Kate in the 1930s. Available on eBay

The life mask is chilling, but I want it anyway.

Also, Katharine is so quotable. I can't blame you on the golf, but goodness knows she does/did make it look glamorous.

Her one and only appearance at the Academy Awards (presenting the Thalberg award to her longtime friend and producer) is particularly enjoyable, as we get a glimpse of the real, enigmatic Kate.

Somewhere in my house I have a Playbill from The West Side Waltz. As a teenager falling in love with classic movies, I remember nothing of the plot of that play, only that I was breathing the same air as my heroine.

Didn't realize Tilda and Katherine look so much alike...it's those gorgeous high cheekbones.
