Alexa here. This Sunday I will not only celebrate Mother's Day but also the birthday of the inimitable (well, except by Catherine O'Hara) Katharine Hepburn with a viewing of Bringing Up Baby, Manic Pixieness be damned.

It's always been a goal of mine to follow her lead, except for the playing golf part, which I will never, ever do. She supplies all the wisdom any woman needs to get through life on quotes alone. After the jump, some Kate art, collectibles and curiosities... including a life mask?

Also, Katharine is so quotable. I can't blame you on the golf, but goodness knows she does/did make it look glamorous.

Her one and only appearance at the Academy Awards (presenting the Thalberg award to her longtime friend and producer) is particularly enjoyable, as we get a glimpse of the real, enigmatic Kate.

Somewhere in my house I have a Playbill from The West Side Waltz. As a teenager falling in love with classic movies, I remember nothing of the plot of that play, only that I was breathing the same air as my heroine.
