Reader Spotlight: Riccardo

Get to know the Film Experience community! Today we're talking to Riccardo who is very succinct in his answers!

TFE: What's your first movie memory?

Riccardo: Bambi in the late 70s in an afternoon show with mum and sister.

Your three favorite actresses?

Nicole Kidman in The Hours. The scene at the station for me is very emotional and I love listening to her original voice and she was absolutely perfect. Michelle Pfeiffer is an absolutely underrated and talented actress even in a thriller like What Lies Beneath. And I can't explain exactly why I like Marilyn Monroe so much -maybe the mix of weakness and sensuality, that will never be found again. I could watch Some Like It Hot a ton of times without ever being bored.

Take one oscar away from someone. Regift it.

From Meryl Streep of The Iron Lady. To Viola Davis for The Help.

If you were in charge of the movies for a year, what kind of movies would you greenlight?
Real stories that tell about real people that changed the world with their acts, thoughts and feeling... A bit boring maybe?

What's the most recent movie you saw in theaters?

Now You See Me which I found it an interesting surpris and I loved Man of Steel  -  Mr.Cavill's personality helped a lot.  Plus lovely Amy and welcome back Kevin.

Hey those aren't real stories about real people! ;) Okay, since you're from Italy what are the three Italian pictures that you think everyone should see?

1. Once Upon a time in America by Sergio Leone is a truly complex masterpiece.
2. La Ciociara (Two Women) with Sophia Loren since I think her Oscar-winning role is one of the most memorable ever.
And recently...
3. Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni, a powerful film that just happened to have a huge advertising and Oscar marketing system behind it :)

Ciao, Riccardo!

To each his own ... regarding taste...

Rick
How about elaborating on your taste comment????p

Aw man, thought it was finally mine. I answered your questions back in April, Nathaniel! (That big of a backlog?) :(

Two Women. I've had a copy of that movie for ages. Guess I should finally give it a view.

Santy -- I'm sorry! yikes. I must have misplaced it. I thought i was done with the backlog ;) I shall love again. my apologiez.

Mark -- i'm assuming Rick doesn't like Riccardo's choice in favorite Italian movies? That's all i can figure. But to each their own indeed. That's what makes fandom so beautiful if you ask me (though weirdly people get upset when others don't agree with them)

Riccardo -- i was really surprised (but happy) to see a shout out to Pfeiffer in What Lies Beneath. She's seriously great in that movie despite the movie being so "B Movie" you know?

I didn't know I had to dissect everything as many on this blog do:

I don't agree with the Streep/Davis exchange ... I still think Davis was supported by a truly fine cast and script. Streep did it all on her own. THat year:BA/Streep BSA/ davis

Kidman.... I did not feel gave a great performance .

I LOVE Italian movies and have seen and loved the ones mentioned ... plus many more.

And ,NAthaniel, I do not get upset when others disagree with me .. I am too liberal to feel like that.

3/artful is the only nonsensical person on this blog whom I get upset with.

Now... Mark & Nathaniel... is that enough????

Rick -- that'll do. Hee. Thanks for sharing.

Hey thanks a lot for this interview! I know I was too succinct! Rick I put Davis instead of Streep there because for me it is a part of a career! And I'm not into "mimic" part but I agree with you that Streep has had all the movie on her shoulder..
And I didn't knew that What lies beneath was considered a BMovie but I wanted to make an original choice :) anyway thanks again Nath I really enjoyed all your comments!

This post reminds me that I still have to see TWO WOMEN. Moving it up the queue now. Thanks. These are always fun.

Ugh. Two Women still isn't available on DVD through Netflix but I'll check to see if it's on Instant. I've wanted to see it forever!
