Elephantitis
Finally, MNPP reminded us that we can all get our Alexander Skarsgard loincloth dreams back on since his Tarzan flick is no longer (apparently) in development hell. Word is that Christoph Waltz is the villain now. Many will greet this as very good news but this makes me sad. It's not that Waltz isn't a good actor but remember how lame it was the last time he was a threat to pachyderms?
Who wants to go back to there? I do not. And I even kinda liked that movie more than most but Waltz was not the why. How about a few more surprises in casting, Hollywood? Aren't there literally a hundred famous actors in Waltz's age range that might be a fun curveball as the villain? But instead we're going to get somebody who already abused elephants. (sigh)

Waltz is like Kevin Spacey: he is terrific or terrible, no gray areas. And except for his two Oscar-winning roles and Carnage, he's been very very terrible.
That link for Prince Eric is so LOL, I was like "WHAT THE...". Bad news for Gil McKinney since they just cast him as Prince Eric in season 3 of Once Upon a Time.
I kind of loved Water for Elephants.
Those pics from Into the Woods are not encouraging. I like the Streep pic best of all, but the rest look like rejects from a tour production of Beauty and the Beast. They don't even fit particularly well. Especially the men.
I really liked Water for Elephants. Reese and Pattinson were terrible and their chemistry was non-existent, but the story felt so romantic and epic nonetheless. And the cinematography was beautiful. And I disagree about Christoph. Also, love the title for the post!
That Die Hard list's idea was lifted (along with the ENTIRE intro) from Vulture. Very irresponsible of the author to claim a "written by" without any acknowledgment of the previous list.

re: Into the Wild
The photos range from "I get what they're going for, but it seems like Marshall's schtick again" (Cinderella's stepsisters) to "those look like mediocre Halloween costumes (Rapunzel, Cinderella).
How do Sondheim musicals get such miscast directors I'll never know.

No worries Nathaniel. I commented cause I was sure that you didn't know about/remember the original piece.
Pretty sure Waltz could have said no. He's said no before, to David Cronenberg, who had him as Freud in A Dangerous Method. And in that he wouldn't have been playing a villain. Waltz, it seems, is partly the cause of his career.
Though we did get a wonderful Viggo as Freud, so I'm not complaining.
