Ken Levine, inspired by Quentin Tarantino, makes a major announcement
Variety Scott Thorson (played by Matt Damon in Behind the Candelabra) just sentenced to 8 to 20 years in Nevada! Yikes.

AV Club Her trailer recut to replace Scarlett Johansson's voice with, uh, Philip Seymour Hoffman's. It's terrifying. you have been warned.
IAR interviews Destin Cretton on Short Term 12
THR a non controversy at Oscar on that strange Original Song nomination from Alone But Not Alone. Pity that Oscar is such sticklers about the rules on some classic important films like Moulin Rouge! and then lets things slide in weird cases like this

/Film Disney's Frozen getting a sing-along version next weekend
BuzzFeed Rachel McAdams shares her two favorite lines from Mean Girls, 10 years later
Pajiba Chris Pratt sings a song about Jean Claude Van Damme's Sudden Death on Parks and Recreation

Finally...
EW Grace of Monaco pulled from the Weinstein Company's release schedule?!? Don't they realize I need biannual doses of Kidman like Virginia Woolf needs exhilarating trips to London? Readers who've asked how I'm coping should know that I have not yet loaded my coat up with stones. But there will be a reckoning if we never get to see it.

P.S. Bette Davis thinks you're a vile sorry little bitch*

*show of hands: who thinks Bette is saying "sour" rather than "sorry" - I can't decipher it

It's definitely "sorry" that Bette is hollerin'. But Southern style, like she's saying "sari" with a short last syllable. Unless she's saying sour-y. Which is possible.

Nathaniel has 'The Railway Man' had a release in the US? 3 very good performances. Nicole in plain jane mode with another excellent english accent.

They are killing me with Grace of Monaco, or the lack of. Just dump it into theaters already. I want to see it. It can't be Diana bad.

Saw Short Term 12 again last night. it totally shot up high on my top ten list. its #2 now behind 12yrs and Dallas Buyers Club which is tied for my first spot.

Josh: Wouldn't that make it third? Because that's how golf does it.
On the Ken Levine link: I thought it was the OTHER Ken Levine, the BioShock Ken Levine, before clicking on the link. It WAS funny, but I do wish you'd have put a disclaimer of "not the designer of BioShock."

Volvagia- technically your right, but i consider both DBC and 12 years my number one. 12 years i think is a masterpiece and Dallas Buyers Club means so much to me personally. That i couldn't deny either the #1 position, but if you want to consider short term 12 my third favorite then that is fine by me.

Grace of Monaco by Olivier Dahan to open the 67th Festival de Cannes!

Sigh. Short Term 12. I'm happy that so many people have had a real connection with the movie, and I'm really happy for the author of the Dissolve piece that it proved to be such a valuable experience. But I was really not a fan. Have never lived in a group home or experienced anything like that and I would never claim to know anything about what that must be like, but friends and family have gone through that and while I thought the film was earnest in its intentions, I also felt like it was super manipulative and inauthentic. I left the film feeling icky. Like the lives and experiences of kids who grew up in those places had been used to tell me a nice story about Brie Larson. It just seemed middlebrow in the worst possible way.

Yes, "Grace of Monaco" is opening Cannes, so I presume that we'll eventually be able to see it.

I feel like a movie like short term 12 needed a happy ending. I was actually crying multiple times throughout the film. Much more than my first experience. Short Term 12 isn't just about how problems and abuse can hurt youth, but it is more importantly about that we can overcome these situations. The way the kids in the movie express their anger is just so authentic it is near breathtaking, Brie Larson is genius in the role. the best female performance of the year and it is so understated and subtle. Its is also devoid of all vanity. Just a great movie in my opinion. Not exploitative but instead more understanding. Not one of the kids is presented as bad even if there behavior is repulsive at times.

Thank you, Ken Levine.

Alone Yet Not Alone pisses me off simply because it stole Young and Beautiful's spot, which was more deserving than all of the nominees except for Let It Go, in my opinion.

"Sorry", for sure.
