Blog Wars: The Link Strikes Back

Must Read ICYMI
The Hoopla Frances McDormand suggests that looking your age is a subversive act. Great stuff. It's been great to see her face all over signage for Olive Kitteridge

Exit Video ICYMI
Every death in the original Star Wars trilogy. The saddest part isn't even a minute in when the body count jumps to 2 billion. Sigh, Alderaanians. We hardly knew thee.

Hmm. Persona wise, I could now almost buy this becoming another Franco-Rogen pairing, after Pineapple Express and The Interview. They have a good chemistry, so having it rendered through the lens of prestige could be cool.

Episode VII wrapping filming just warms my heart - Now it all feels real - and that video of all the kills in the OT is both great and disturbing. Neon Demons sounds very interesting but if Refn's last two films are any indication of his overall talent then I probably won't love it. Visually, Drive and Only God Forgives are beautiful films. Unfortunately, in terms of their scripts, the former felt too routine and thin in places to be more than good; while the latter was just flat out nonsensical and bad. Hope I'm wrong as there's a few actresses I'd like to see in this thing.

i feel like HBO has barely advertised OLIVE KITTERIDGE at all. i don't think i've seen a single poster anywhere in nyc. which is a shame because i really enjoyed it last night (the second hour much more than the first). i kept thinking about it today and looking forward to the conclusion tonight.

I'm so confused how anyone could see The Tale of Princess Kaguya as a knockout. I'm not being snarky at all - it actually seems to me like I may have missed something.

I know it's a bit silly to take a role and then declare yourself not right for it, but I admire Christian Bale's integrity. I wish other actors would realise when the part doesn't suit them.

Not a big fan of Refn or the Horror genre, but I do like female led Horror films, so I like the sound of The Neon Demon. It also helps that I myself have 'vicious beauty'!

I am totally in love with Frances Mcdormand.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the original Bale as Jobs announcement was just Aaron Sorkin saying it was a done deal, which doesn't exactly scream "official". But maybe I am remembering it wrong.

Jamie Dornan is very pretty, and very dull--both as an actor and when being interviewed. And the Daily Mail article also hints at some serious sexual insecurity (it is the Daily Mail, so that may have been added for effect). I wonder how much uncrusted bread was sacrificed for those CK photos.

I liked him in The Falls, but it was a pretty one note character (psycho killer and all that). I see a new Showgirls launching on VD day.
