Tammy Teaser

Can we redo the "We Can't Wait 2014" list and put Tammy way the hell up there? Here's the teaser. The business with the spoon. I died.

P.S. I know that Susan Sarandon (unseen here) is the co-star but due to the music choice, I convinced myself for a milisecond that La Pfeiffer would appear to ask Melissa McCarthy "you wanna tell me what this is all about?"

icymi in the "We Can't Wait" series we named these 2014 titles as the one's we're most gagging for:
01 Carol (TBA) 02 The Grand Budapest Hotel (March) 03 Foxcatcher (TBA)
04 Under the Skin (April) 05 Inherent Vice (TBA) 06 Into the Woods (X-Mas)
07 Snowpiercer (TBA) 08 Nymphomaniac (March) 09 Boyhood (May)
10 Big Eyes  (TBA) 11 The Last 5 Years (TBA) 12 Gone Girl (Oct)
13 Can a Song Save Your Life (TBA) 14 Veronica Mars (March) Runners Up

The spoon! Cracking up at my desk.

I'm sorry but I'm tired of her playing the same character over and over. I think she's more talented than this.

I know that this snippet they pulled from the teaser is going to draw a lot of those same-shtick-all-over-again criticisms, but 1) that CAST LIST! Kathy Bates!?! and 2) Melissa McCarthy co-write this with her husband, Ben Falcone, so I'd be surprised if there didn't end up being a lot more to it.

I'm joining the 'We Can't Wait' crew.

The teaser bumped up my interest, too. I don't think she's playing the same character over and over. I think we're just not used to a woman gaining a reputation as a physical comedian. I also think Hollywood doesn't know what to do with it, giving us trailers and teasers that make every film she's done since Bridesmaids look like another film where she's playing her character in Bridesmaids.

OMG! That cast! I would have been just as excited if the teaser was a screenshot of that cast list alone.

I think McCarthy will do a bait and switch here, hopefully with the best results and done with the best intentions, especially since she and her husband are so involved in this production. The marketers know what a lot of people are looking for in her movies right now, so she needs to entice those people with her most familiar brand of comedy first. Sort of like Bridesmaids ended up being much more affecting and human than its "The Hangover...but with Ladies!!!" advertising marketing would have had you believe.

Regardless of the marketing, I'm pro McCarthy all the way and this trailer is hilarious. That she is a movie star that focuses on comedy delights me endlessly, though I do hope she also uses her formidable dramatic talents soon as well.

God, I love Susan Sarandon - when she's off, she's terrible, but when she's on, she unbeatable. Who knows which Susan has come to play here?

Still irritated that she got no traction at all for Jeff, Who Lives At Home - her best performance in nearly 20 years...

Supposedly she's appearing in a different type of film with St. Vincent De Van Nuys with Bill Murray. But who even knows what kind of character she's playing here? This woman, at first glance, appears pretty ditzy, whereas Mullins and Megan were really smart, and had the jobs to prove it.

Anyway, I'm in.

That business with the spoon is indeed the stuff of LOLZ, but my biggest takeaway from that trailer is ZOMG TONI COLLETTE AND SANDRA OH!!!!!!

Yeah, if this trailer had been released earlier, it probably would have been on my "We Can't Wait" list.
