I scored 19/24 in my predictions which is not great because I missed a couple of obvious things (I had a hunch that there'd be an upset in foreign film - wrong! and I overthought Editing & Costumes) since I thought it would be a volatile night. I was wrong but I had a blast watching. I hope you had a great night, too.

Love that CM is such an everyday Aussie girl!! Love that I still have a programme from a production of The Cherry Orchard with "Cathy Martin- wardrobe". I was a Theatre Studies student at the University of NSW while CM was a second year NIDA student. UNSW shared facilities with NIDA. I didn't know her but when I found the programme a couple of years ago in my copy of Chekhov's Plays, I was thrilled to see her name. It's kind of exciting to think I was a witness to the genesis of a multiple Oscar winner.

Rizz...Best Supporting ACTOR normally comes up as one of the first awards, but Best Supporting ACTRESS usually comes up late in the broadcast, if I remember correctly.

I actually recall BSActress as one of the first awards many years...
Originally I wanted to say they start with one supporting and leave the other til later, the formal being the one least suspense among the two... then I remember last year when they put Anne Hathaway's Supporting Actress way later than Best Supporting Actor.

So glad Lupita won. It would have hurt JLaw more than help if she had gotten it. Hopefully it will do more for Lupita than it did for Mira Sorvino or Mercedes Ruehl.

Sorry PSH was a great actor but sordidness of his death aside Shirley Temple deserved that final spot. She was a star starting in 1934 and has been one ever since. Love Bette but her song was totally unnecessary and to add insult to injury once she was done they put all the people who had passed up behind her and only focused on her. It's not about her!!!!!!!!
At least they didn't have her sing over the them like they have the last couple of years but she shouldn't have been there at all.
