Beauty Break: Logan Lerman

When I met Logan Lerman in 2012 to talk Perks of Being a Wallflower and Noah (right here icymi) he was as nice as movie actors can get. We even strayed off topic quite a bit over coffee. I was eager to see what he'd do next but, I must confess, he seemed so young that I wasn't exactly thinking of him as a contender for leading gigs, just as a very promising actor. During my screening of Noah, my best friend (who is not at all into movies and had no idea who Lerman was) was all a-drooling and I felt weirdly protective. He's just a nice boy, put your tongue back in your mouth!

But, uh, I need to rethink. Lerman is now 22. This new spread in Interview magazine, to accompany an interview conducted by one of the young actor's idols Michael Shannon seems determined to update perceptions about his age and his romantic leading man potential in the wake of Noah.

More after the jump...

LERMAN: I'm in New York right now. I came out here for the photo shoot for this piece.
SHANNON: How many outfits did you put on?
LERMAN: Um ... there wasn't a lot of clothing involved.

In some ways his role in Noah is another teenage role in that he's very much under-romanced and over parented. But he doesn't want to be. He lusts after a young girl named Na'el who
dies a grisly end even before the flood
This photo shoot keeps reminding us that Logan Lerman is ready for bigger and definitely lustier things at the movies now that the mid 20s approach. The romantic roles will have to wait though. His next film role is in the all manly Fury (will that title hold?) with Brad Pitt, Shia Labeouf, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal and more in tanks during World War II. Presumably lots of sweating awaits, but still no sexcapades.

Those eyelashes. He's still got such a baby face. Beautiful kid though.

He's hot and talented.

Twink-a-licious. ;)

He's a little bland in all the work I've seen. Maybe it's rude to say, but I just don't think he has a very expressive face. He keeps getting good gigs though. He and Jessica Biel should make a movie where they play statues.

Oh man...these photos have my brain so confused. I know he's in his 20's so I can be gross and lusty as much as I want, but he still looks 16 years old in the face!

@Yy: lol.

He was VERY good in Perks, bland as ever in Percy Jackson (don't really blame him though) and played the most annoying character ever in Noah (I mostly blame the script but it has to be partly his fault too).

With that said, I am definitely excited to see how his career shapes up - he could become great. Although, I do think that Dane Dehaan and Michael B Jordan have shown greater long-term potential at this point.

Yeah I can see why people are writing slash fiction about him

I adore him, and he's my age so I feel no shame. It helps that I haven't seen any of his nonsense movies. He'd have been in my personal Best Actor ballot for Perks--such sensitivity! And without any of the vanity or condescension of the Sensitive Guy cliché that so many actors (including actors better than Logan Lerman) seem to fall back on when asked to be as open as he was in that movie. Very excited to see what he does next.

I'm not sure how he will do with complex emotion. He's interesting. That's all for now.

I hate to play the "is he or isn't he?" game, but he's pinged my gaydar since I first saw him and all his attempts to sexualities himself in recent years have always seemed to me like an attempt to play butch. Sorry!

On the plus side, I do think he has promise and hope he makes good film decisions.

Fury marks his first real adult role sharing as much screentime as Pitt's character - cant wait to see what lerman will attempt next
