Vulture NBC Upfronts. Nothing looks interesting to me here and Jesus that Katharine Heigl show looks derivative - like someone created it with a computer program that randomly mixed up elements of Homeland and Scandal scripts.
Vulture Fox Upfronts. I'm sorry but this Gotham show looks so dumb. We just don't need this much Batman in the world. Also: Last Man on Earth. Intriguing ballsy teaser but how do you sustain that?

Outsports comments from Michael Sam's NFL-draft ESPN kiss attached to photos of NFL players on camera with their lady friends. There have been so many fascinating and funny and ridiculous articles and TV talk meltdowns about this. All from a quick closed-lip kiss with a hug. Haha. Which is so... nothing. Standard business when someone hears great news. It never ceases to amaze me how many people can't see double standards from the fog of their hysteria. It is interesting, though, isn't it that very few people seem upset that it's a bi-racial relationship we're looking at? You'd think while people were trotting out their homophobia they'd toss in a little racism, too. Progress!

I always find it funny how the internet responds to all superhero movies but especially Batman ones. Rabid fan bases can certainly be scary.

It is interesting, though, isn't it that very few people seem upset that it's a bi-racial relationship we're looking at? You'd think while people were trotting out their homophobia they'd toss in a little racism, too. Progress!
I had this conversation with my brother. I explained to him it's common in gay relationships to either be interracial or inter-generational in coupling.
There has been much debate in the black gay blogosphere regarding gay interracial relationships as a matter of representation in mainstream public discourse, the problem being the lack of black-on-black relationships as part of that narrative. It's brought out some insightful points of view.
Unrelated, I have an attitude about Viola Davis's TV show because she belongs in movies, though I can't blame a sister for seizing the opportunity for a major gig. Television (thanks to Shonda Rhimes) and musical theatre seem to be the best media for black women.
Jada Pinkett-Smith is "Fish" Mooney and Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin) works under her: Expect two "subtle" foreshadowing "jokes" an episode about Oswald Cobblepot "eating fish." Bonus groan points for episodes that use any sort of play on "he eats fish for breakfast."
Poison Ivy's real name is Ivy Pepper: If you can't come up with something better than Pamela Isley (her real name in the Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths comics), which you probably can't because that one is at least halfway subtle, especially for superhero comics, don't bother.
James Gordon being someone who's a 25 or so (played by a 35 year old) "rookie" when Bruce is 13: It might work, but it's slightly weird.
Wow, those NBC shows look awful. And they gave Parks only 13 episodes to wrap up? I'm surprised they don't just bring the Jay Leno Show back.
I'll watch Viola Davis's new show, but as someone who stuck with Grey's Anatomy way too long, I have my reservations about Shonda Rhimes. She devolves into stupid and annoying.
Lee Daniels's show has the potential to be addictive.

I'd be more defensive of Gotham dissing, Nathaniel, had the show actually been a faithful adaptation of the great comic book procedural, Gotham Central. This just looks really CW-ish, my apologies to Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue.
As soon as the new Batsuit picture came out, I tweeted: "Sad Batman is sad. I bet there's already a meme."
So yay for "Why So Sad, Batman." I knew the internet wouldn't let me down.
