TMZ a few dozen images from the set of Star Wars Episode VII - mostly it's just charactor actors mulling about Tattooine sets with dark sunglasses in those earth colors heavy robes. Don't get too excited.
MNPP Good morning Jamie Dornan. This new photoshoot seems to be taking over the web (but I am willing to predict that 50 Shades of Gray won't do justice to Dornan's smolder.
LA Times Ann B Davis, "Alice" the housekeeper from The Brady Bunch has passed away. She was already a two-time Emmy winner when she started that show in 1969 but can you believe The Brady Bunch was never nominated for a single Emmy? Of course the awards were much different then with far fewer categories. Out of curiousity I looked up on the nominees that year from The Brady Bunch's first year 69/70 and the winning comedy was "My World and Welcome to It" and the winning 'new series' (a category they don't have anymore) was "Room 222" which was an interracial drama. I've never heard of either.

Lynn Hirschberg invites Shailene Woodley and Brie Larson to dinner for Vulture and she agonizes about how to cook for them (in a kind of gentle mocking tone?) and they talk friendship, staying honest, and fixing Hollywood. Brie Larson reveals that she misses rejection ("it's real and I don't want to lose that") and Shailene talks about her failed Oscar campaign for the Descendants (‘Are you telling me that if I dress a certain way, my chances are better for an Oscar? That makes me want to show up naked.’).
Anyway it's a great read...
They both approved of my soup (thank God!) and did not question my out-of-season tomatoes imported from some faraway, nonlocal place. The girls talked like long-lost sisters, airing their frustrations and expectations in equal measure. Woodley, for instance, hates sleeping scenes in movies. “It’s so ridiculous the woman wakes up and she’ll have makeup on! I don’t even look like that after a photo shoot!” And both women worked hard not to be judgmental. “Girls in this industry sabotage one another,” Larson said. “We will never do that.” It was a lovefest with big stakes: Together and apart, they were constantly pondering how to improve the movie business. Or, at least, how to mobilize their army of two.
It's sad to me that Shailene Woodley spoke out against feminism recently because she clearly doesn't know what it means and would love it if she got educated and understood it.

Nathaniel-My World and Welcome to It was a wonderfully bizarre, surreal series based on James Thurber's writing with William Windom often re-enacting the stories he's telling his young daughter within a cartoon setting or a flashback. It was too original to capture a large audience and only lasted one season but it deserved to win for best comedy the year it was on.
Room 222 was a dramedy that was a big hit at the time. Set in a high school with the principal and teachers as the main characters and several students as constants it's wildly dated now, not just the clothes but the language (they rap about their problems at least once an episode!!) but it took on many social issues of the day and made a star albeit briefly of Karen Valentine.
I just read a Woodley intervew where she commented on the fallout from her feminism statement. She still doesn't appear to understand what the word means but reading the interview helped me understand that this is a really young person desperate to appear articulate and profound and relatively unequipped to do so. You know. JUST LIKE MILLIONS OF 18-24 YEAR OLDS.
So I'm not letting her bother me for now. Maybe if she says something similar in 5 years I'll get mad again.
In the meantime though, every day I am more grateful that Lena Dunham exists in this universe. (Something I never thought I would say after first seeing Tiny Furniture a few years ago).
I adore Shailene Woodley. She'll figure it out with feminism at some point--she's already there really.
That's the problem with sticking a microphone in the face of someone whose only reality has been on film sets... and who is always told how fabulous they are. Too young, too dumb.

To Woodley's defense,
There are plenty of women who proclaim to be feminists and yet not all of them share the same goals or even definition of feminism. Some indeed want equal rights for the sexes, but others are a little more radical and others are a little more relaxed. Gloria Steinem and Camille Paglia, for instance, are both self-proclaimed feminists, yet they hardly agree on anything.
Her misconception about feminism is no one's concern. And to make it an issue is ridiculous. Who cares? If she were a racist or homophobic -- I could understand fan disappointment. But the whole she needs to educate herself -- shit that applies to all human beings who have several blind spots. This is hers -- get over it.
I don't get why Shailene Woodley needs to "get" feminism to embody what it stands for. A lot of women her age aren't in a place or a culture that promotes feminism the way that the internet likes to imagine--yelling at them is hardly going to help them and it's certainly not representative of any kind of feminism I stand for.
I haven't seen Room 222 since it was on the air the first time (yes, I am that old). For its time, it was wonderfully progressive. I think they might have even had TWO African Americans on the show at the same time. And both in important positions. Imagine that. Karen Valentine's star was truly ascendant and she won awards for at least one or two years.
I think it sort of fizzled under its own earnestness, but I remember liking it at the time since it felt so "modern."
I also vaguely recall My World And Welcome To It. I watched it with my parents at least once or twice and we discussed it because it was so different. I think it was already canceled when it won the awards (William Windom may have won as well).
Both of these shows were a transition from the Gilligan's Island/Bewitched kind of shows to the more modern shows just coming down the road such as All In The Family and Mary Tyler Moore.
Shailene seems ignorant, but she's a genius compared to L'enfant terrible (JLaw).
As a kid, I was a fan of both Room 222 and My World and Welcome To It.

Shailene Woodley's comments about feminism proves that Ellen's Oscar joke was on point: more actors should go to school first. You won't hear Lupita Nyongo saying anything that uninformed, y'know?
I love Penny Dreadful because it clearly pays hommage not just to classic horror literature but classic horror films- it looks like a Hammer movie - I kept wondering what Harnett's characters tormented secret was all about- I thought he was going to be a werewolf not bi-sexual. They have already toyed with the gay angle with Frankenstein who seems to be in love with his male creation.
I like Brie Larson and will continue to like her, but that statement about looking for rejection is one of the most eyeroll worthy comments I've ever heard anyone say. I think I know what she's getting at -- things are good right now so any form of rejection is a good reality check -- but it's such a...privileged thing to say. Tell that to Alfre and Viola and Angela, Brie.
F you did not have to go there. Brie's problem isn't a white girl one. Because surely overrated hillbilly Lawrence isn't looking for rejection. When Brie ages out of the everyone wants to hire her phase she sort of see the silliness of her remark.

The man to man kiss in "Penny Dreadful" is an instant classic- Nathaniel post the ten hottest gay kisses in film history- and I was thinking Mr Harnett would have been a good choice for "Brokeback Mountain"
