Batman & Superman: The Complete Series & Body-ody-ody

na na na na na na na na ♬ ♬ ♬

Warner Bros has announced that all 120 Episodes of the camp 60s Batman series are coming to DVD and Blu-Ray for the first time in November. This is awesome news (so many stars were in that show) but what about consumer choices? May I please order Batman: The Incomplete Series with only the Batgirl & Catwoman episodes at a discounted price? That's how I watched the show as a child. If the Batgirl cutout above didn't come swinging into frame during that nananananana theme song (as she did in episodes in which she appeared) I sometimes just turned off the TV and ran outside to play. True story!

My preferred Catwoman FWIW was Julie Newmar.... though as an adult my appreciation for Eartha Kitt in other venues rose dramatically so I'm curious if I would like her rendition of Catwoman more now?

Anyway it's all remastered. Look at how much the colors pop!

In other superhero news, the first still of Henry Cavill as Superman from The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Heroes in Love: Batman vs. Superman has been released. He stands erect, ready for any threat beyond the Kryptonite of Amy Adams' sheer indifference (Love her but my god that was terrible casting. Newsflash Hollywood: no actor is right for everything... even when they're at their most popular)

I just hope Henry Cavill's trainer has concentrated on his lower body a little more this year. I know we were all supposed to drool over the body-ody-ody in round one but I found it weirdly and displeasingly top heavy, like at any moment he might fall over from the girth of that Super Torso atop those Only Human legs.

julie newmar as catwoman aroused feelings in me as a child that never occurred again as an adult (....except for faith from buffy)

i only ever saw her catwoman episodes as a kid; i got into an argument in my 20s when someone suggested eartha kitt played the role (the hair raising bomb episode proved me so wrong)

Well, at least standing in the rain Superman gets some use out of that wetsuit he's wearing.

Your Batman story is me choosing the female character whenever playing a fighting video game as kid.

Nathaniel, if you're advocating for thick Henry Cavill thighs to go along with that chest then I am 100% on board. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE, MOVIE.

My TV Catwoman is Adrienne Barbeau from Batman: The Animated Series.
Movie Catwoman- Michelle. Leather never looked so appealing.

My take away from that is this: Goodie, they're not even changing the aesthetic from the ground up. Thank you, for further confirming that this movie series is a farce of a Superman adaptation. If you can't even acknowledge that you GOT THE AESTHETIC WRONG, you're going to fail.

Julie Newmar was my favorite Catwoman on the show, but I loved them all. The colors on that show! I must have been five or six when I demanded to see the next episode so I'd know "Is this the last hurrah?" I remember The Riddler tying Robin to a board and a saw moving slowly towards him, and realizing I had VERY strong feelings about Robin going away, haha. Holy early awareness Batman!

I remember being so excited for that Batgirl image in the credits. The cut away to the best "Meanwhile" reading I would ever hear, and then that hilarious wigged outfit. OMG. This show redefines camp. LOVE IT.

(Glad someone else had the guts to say Hathaway > Pfeiffer in the movies - both great, but man, loved Hathaway in her mess of a movie. And Eartha Kitt as Catwoman - I remember saying to my parents "That's not Catwoman" and them saying "Why not?" Now if only casting directors in Hollywood had that experience...)

Huh, I've found yet another movie related ridiculous hill that I will die on, because NOPE at Hathaway is the better Catwoman than Pfeiffer in the movies. Don't get me wrong, Hathaway is lovely and bizarrely underrated for her turn, and she is a very close second, but Pfeiffer is tops with me, particularly with how she played rage and sexuality, which all Catwomen in the movies have to do it seems, even that horror That Shall Not Be Mentioned.

I'm generally speaking not attracted to big muscles, so maybe I'm biased but there's a red line Jackman passed long time ago and looking at that picture, I'd say Cavill too. Sorry, but there's a point when it's just gross, and personally I think it's as unhealthy as losing tons of weight or putting a lot on for a role. I don't know, you don't need to be a super-man to play Superman. It's called suspension of disbelief. Asking actors to look like cartoons is just utterly insane.

iggy -- i agree. I think we've clearly moved from "fit" to insane and unhealthy and probably drug enhanced overall with movie star bodies. I tend to like leaner toned physiques best. they look healthy and rarely impossibly godlike and unnatural.

@ Eurocheese & F: I never said Hathaway was "better" than Pfeiffer as Catwoman, I said she was my preferred Catwoman. ;-) Pfeiffer was great doing what she did in Burton's vision of Gotham, but in my book a blonde, neurotic mouse-that-roared Selina Kyle will never be preferable to a brunette, sexy, smart-assed, jaded cat burglar played as well as Hathaway did it. Pfeiffer's Catwoman is at the bottom of my list of live action incarnations, below even Lee Meriwether.

It's funny that you mentioned about Henry's top-heavy physique because the person who strikes me as being equally 'lopsided' would be Joe Manganiello featured in your blog after Henry's mention. What an uncanny coincidence. LOL
