The biggest news for us here at The Film Experience was the announcement of the 81 movies in competition for Best Foreign Film. We've already interviewed directors from or reviewed 11 of them: Argentina's The Clan, Austria's Goodnight Mommy (now in theaters), Colombia's Embrace of the Serpent, Dominican Republic's Sand Dollars, France's Mustang, Germany's Labyrinth of Lies (now in theaters!), Hungary's Son of Saul, Norway's The Wave, Portugal's Arabian Nights Volume 2, Sweden's A Pigeon Sat on a Branch, and Taiwan's The Assassin with more to come.
Reboot the World. Bring it On
Remember when Bring It On (2000) made our top ten list of Best High School Movies Ever Made? Don't you wish that they hadn't made all those terrible straight-to-dvd sequels for Bring It On so that the world could demand an actual Bring It On sequel? EW reunited the principle cast for their latest issue.
Eliza Dushku, Gabrielle Union, and Kiki are still sexy. And cute. and popular to boot. Okay maybe less popular (sigh) but still awesome. And to quote our friend Joe Reid:

Doctor Fate: Simple, timeless AND looks cool both on and off the comic page. If Doctor Strange is a success, I'd expect WB to greenlight his movie IMMEDIATELY. (Because if you can make THAT guy work, you could easily make his cooler looking counterpoint work.)
Doctor Strange: I know he has fans, but his iconic look, though still cool but anachronistic on the page, is a MESS off the page. Those costume designers have their work cut out for them in creating something that's just as cool in live-action.

Just watched Bring It On for the first time in a while about a week or two ago and I really do wish they had made a legitimate sequel, so I'm right there with you on wishing the Direct To Video films didn't happen. Also, and I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, but I much prefer Bring It On to Mean Girls. Obviously, they don't have a lot in common but one has stayed in the public consciousness much more than the other and I just never got why (besides, the Lindsay Lohan heat and four lead girls being insanely sexy at the time).
Saw the Norton show and was delighted with all 4 women... I found nicole the wamest and fuzziest I had seen her in a long while...
When Nicole and Meryl launched into that conversation about the importance of selecting projects that "matter" and make a contribution... I was like Carey Mulligan, sitting in the middle and swooning in awe of these two goddesses.
The Norton interview's so cool. Nicole's particularly sweet and they share a few anecdotes and the like. Can´t wait to see her play!
Jesse Bradford is still hot
I love the Reunions issue. It never disappoints. Scott Foley and Scott Speedman are on the cover and I wouldn't kick them out of bed for eating crackers, either. And I never even watched "Felicity"!
"This is awful, why are you telling me this?!?" Oh Nicole. LOVE.
And, gosh, Jess Bradford. It's just not fair.
I watched the full Graham Norton episode on YouTube and it was of course everything. They even dedicated part of the conversation to The Actressexual Film of the Aughts, The Hours! It's too bad Julianne didn't have anything to promote in the UK. I need that reunion.
And Carey mentioned that Nicole sent her flowers after seeing her in Skylight on Broadway. I love hearing stories of actresses supporting each other. <3
