Xmas Pics Coming Our Way
Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:04AM It's October, so Manuel is here trying to get into the Halloween Christmas spirit. Wait, isn’t it a little early? Perhaps, but these three films are hoping to get you excited about the jolly holidays.
Hope away, holiday movies, but it's hard to be remotely excited about any of these. Still, we're glad Lizzy Caplan & Mindy Kaling (The Night Before), and Toni Collette & Alilson Tolman (Krampus) are getting work. Though, as actressexuals go, Love the Coopers is where it’s at: Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, June Squibb, Olivia Wilde, and Marisa Tomei.

Going off directorial pedigree, The Night Before actually seems like you should be a little more optimistic. I mean, Jonathan Levine isn't an Edgar Wright, exactly, but he's still good.
I'm prrretty excited for Krampus since I really love Trick 'R Treat. And I quite like the people working on the Night Before but I'm more cautious about that one.
If ever there was a way to psych me up for a crap movie, assembling that Love the Coopers cast is a smart move.
This is somewhat off topic but I looked up Miracle on 34th Street on imdb and its main title is now The Big Heart, its original uk title. I've seen other movies on imdb going by lesser known titles too. What is up with that?
Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat is a fantastic holiday horror movie and I loooooooooove the Krampus legend so I can't wait to see what he's come up with, especially with such a fun cast
I love Diane Keaton....but these horrible repeated family movies are just ghastly. This looks as bad as that unwatchable lost-dog movie she did a few years ago. She was Oscar nominated in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's....she has only 4 years to make a decent movie & get a nomination in the 10's.

I might actually watch Krampus. Always hopeful for a good Christmas horror movie.
It's some kind of miracle that Marisa Tomei has an Oscar in hand.
"Krampus" a horrifying YES!..." Love The Coopers" looks like a generic holiday movie- the guy playing the soldier looks cute .
Hayden: the fact that she has another two nominations diffuses that. She's in as much a need of a pay cheque as everyone else.
As for these three... I dunno. Krampus is probably the one I'm most interested by.
Fun fact though - Christmas movies rarely do well in December. The box-office suggests October or November work best, which sounds odd but one of those strange statistical anomalies. Like how none of the last five HALLOWEEN movies (as in the franchise) have been released in October.
I already passed on this movie back when it was called "The Family Stone."

Thank you James, I was thinking the same thing. However I didn't pass then, and I've still not forgiven Diane Keaton. Can we all just agree YES - Jake Lacey NO - everything else. It looks godawful.
