Gothamist Good Morning America tries to interview Carrie Fisher. She is not as cooperative as they're used to. Hilarious. She mostly wants to talk about her dog Gary. Also...

Director Ryan Coogler talks about Creed's amazing continuous shot boxing match. So gutsy that this bravura bit comes so early in the movie and he still manages to top it later on.

I've only really seen Woodley in The Descendants , in which I thought she was fine, but I find her persona pretty insufferable. Probably an unfounded take but no, thanks! It they needed a starlet to play a young single mom they should've got Wasikowska (Aussies, assemble!) or even Lawrence?
Interviewer: I'm over 40 I hear ya
CF: That's upsetting for me
LOL.
And then how she keeps bringing it up. Hilarious interview.
"Creed" is a series of exhilarating, juiced-up sequences dynamically visualized. Coogler's filmmaking is so shrewd and energetic - a nomination would be well deserved.
Deadline says that HBO is talking to Laura Dern for Big Little Lies as well.
So at least that cancels out the Woodley news!

Sean Baker in the Criterion closet. One quote: "I went to NYU to direct Die Hard."
I'm delighted to see Brendan Gleeson get some love for his Suffragette performance, which I thought was complex, nuanced and beautifully handled. Just even the idea of an Irishman at that time, working to bring down 'internal enemies of the state' when Irish people were being cast as something similar was a really interesting choice by Abi Morgan. I loved his scenes with Mulligan and the two were electric together
Big Little Lies is an exciting project.
