15 Days Til Oscar - Final Voting Begins

Final Oscar voting begins... right this minute (2/06/14 at 8:00 AM PT). Voting ends on Tuesday, February 17th at 5 PM.  What's your final wish in these last two weeks?

In the next 15 days we'll look at each Oscar category, celebrate Black History Month, and get smoochy for Valentines Day. Plus more interviews and I'll compete the parallel Film Bitch Awards. Ready... set... go!

"What's your final wish in these last two weeks? "

That Daniel Craig finally comes to his senses and realizes I'm the one he really wants.

Oscar wise: That the voters see every film and vote their hearts and not how they think they should vote. But since the Oscars are Hollywood's version of Prom.........ain't gonna happen.

Can we get last-minute write-ins for Chadwick Boseman, Rene Russo, Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain?

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterbrookesboy

I want Cate to present to Julianne.... that woud be a glorious moment... make it happen Academy!

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered Commentermurtada

I want the producers to get someone historically significant (not Oprah) to present the Selma clip. Barring that, Ava DuVernay herself.

I want Stephen Hawking to release a paper immediately that dissolves the Eddie Murphy "Norbit" theory.

Goose egg for American Sniper. Wes Anderson wins Best Director.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSawyer

I'll be greedy and make three wishes, since I know my #1 won't come true - I'll wish for Anderson and Gilroy to win the writing prizes, and most of all, I'll wish that Norton gets the most votes for Supporting Actor.

I'd really like Ida to win not only the Best Foreign-language Oscar, but also win in cinematography.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterBill_the_Bear

I'd wish a Cotillard win, but let Moore win this time

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered Commentercal roth

Since Jake Gyllenhaal was robbed, my biggest Oscar wish is for Edward Norton to pull a huge upset.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterPatryk

I'm wishing that nothing upsets the apple cart and Moore and Arquette rightfully win their Oscars! I'm also wishing that Linklater wins Best Director and Wes Anderson wins Best Original Screenplay.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSuzanne

I'm hoping that American Sniper doesn't win anything if possible. As long as it doesn't win best picture or Bradley Cooper doesn't pull out a win - it already sucks that it is pulling in huge box office.
I really hope that Grand Budapest wins as many awards as possible.
After that I truly hope NPH gives a show that people really enjoy.

Paul Thomas Anderson for Adapted Screenplay. He'll never win Director. Nor does he appear to ever again be in the running for a sophomore nomination in the category.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

Yeah, for sure no awards for American Sniper. Everything else is all good.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRob

My wish is that Keira wins. It would make my year. Sorry Arquette fans.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRobMiles

I wish--
--that the Academy spreads the love with wins for Wes Anderson, Linklater, and Inarritu across their nominated categories
---for upsets in Best Actress (because I'm still pissed about Still Alice's just-in-time release and cuz I really hate "let's just give it to Julianne Moore because she was pretty good in this and really because she was AWESOME in all her previous roles and is due"); in Best Supporting Actor (would be really happy with Ruffalo or Hawke); and in Best Actor (Carell's performance was the best of that bunch, IMO)
--that Robert Lopez and Kristen-Anderson Lopez write a killer song for NPH on Oscar night so I can hum that one instead of the freakin' "let it go".

Things that are on their way to happening that I will cosign:

- Richard Linklater for Director. Innaritu would obviously be the choice any other year, but Linklater really deserves it for pulling off such a complex project business-wise that is completely humanist and very much not the usual Hollywood success story.

- Julianne Moore and Patricia Arquette for the Actress Oscars. Love them both and think they're the deserving winners. Hope nothing comes in their way.

- Birdman for Original Screenplay. I want Inarritu to win something for this movie and I think the screenplay was great. I would say Wes Anderson since Inarritu probably has a better chance at coming back, but meh.

- Glory for Original Song. I swear if something upsets this win...

Things that are on the fence that I want to happen:

- Boyhood is seeing some competition now for BP and I don't think it's perfect, but it's the Best Picture for me.

- Michael Keaton for Best Actor. I think he;s the best and also want to see four fictional characters win the acting trophies for the first time in forever.

Things that will not happen but I would like to see happen:

- Edward Norton or Ethan Hawke take Best Supprting Actor. Though I would feel bad for JK Simmons bc the idea of winning ALL those awards just to miss out on the only one that really matters (let's be real) would really suck. I'm still hurting for Eddie Murphy. So those are my choices but I'm ok with him winning just for that reason. Supporting Actor never really excites me anyway.

"Lost Stars" for Best Original Song and Milena Canonero.

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

I agree with Henry, but will kindly substitute (beefy) Bradley Cooper for Daniel Craig, (but I would not complain about Daniel Craig. AT ALL.)

I don't have a problem with Julianne winning a career Oscar, but please let's have a surprise in one of the other categories. That will really add some drama to what's looking like the "boringest" awards in recent memory.

oh, and agree with Peggy Sue. That' "Lost Stars" song is really, really pretty!

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterforever1267

Were you also upset with Streep's Iron Lady victory, Pam?

February 6, 2015 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

My wish is for American Sniper NOT to win anything.

Sadly my heart is telling me that there are enough rightwing conservative Academy members who will vote for it.

And there may be some members who want to reward the highest grossing Best Pic nominee.

February 7, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterBette Streep

My real wish is that now Julianne is getting an Oscar can we figure a way to get Glenn Close a [competitive] Oscar? It seems so unjust.

Let's get the Sunset Boulevard musical on the big screen.

February 7, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip H.

I just saw Still Alice, and hot damn, Julianne Moore does deserve the freakin Oscar this year. just vote for her academy members!

I wish that Keira Knightley wins.

February 7, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterfadhil

Philip H --

Close with a competitive Oscar win in the Lead category would right the wrongs of the past. Sure Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Pfeiffer need their justice too---but Close being denied for Cher to have an Oscar, Foster to have a first, and Streep to have a third is sickening.

February 7, 2015 | Unregistered Commenter3rtful

No negative campai... hahaha, okay. I have a better chance at winning the lottery.

February 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRyan T.

DGA went to Birdman.........
