*SPECIAL EPISODE* Let's look at the anthology romantic comedy from the great Vittoria DeSica starring Oscar's favorite Italians Marcello Mastroianni and Sophia Loren. It won Best Foreign Film for 1964. I saw it for the first time last year and l-o-v-e-d.. This is our second annual April Fools Day episode. We had so much fun last year with a 'Bad Movie We Love' and first Razzie Winner, Can't Stop the Music that we're trying to chase that high. Meet Joan Crawford, one of the great stars, by way of the very committed Faye Dunaway (another one of the great stars, whatever this movie did to her career).

NO WIRE HANGERS! EVER!!!! I fucking love that movie! It is so over-the-top but goddamn, it is a whole lot of fun to watch.
Wish someone would make a high camp version of Julia Roberts love life.
One critic once wrote: "In Mommie Dearest, Faye Dunaway doesn't chew the scenery. She gathers up the set by each corner and swallows it whole."
And she's marvelous!
It is in fact her fourth best screen performance (after Network, Chinatown and Bonnie and Clyde.) But I'm spoiling my HMWYBS post...

Just realized Rosamund Pike favors Faye Dunaway in terms of looks...but does she have the same ferocity to achieve a performance of this magnitude....I hope so!
