First Look: Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams
Manuel here, asking the very important question:
Is Tom Hiddleston the greatest Hat Actor of his generation?
The question came to me as I got a first look at I Saw the Light, the upcoming biopic centered on country-western single Hank Williams, where Hiddleston will be showcasing his singing skills, as well as proving yet again that there's yet to be a hat he cannot pull of with ease and style.
Exhbit A:
If Hiddleston in a white ten gallon hat isn't enough to entice you, perhaps the supporting cast will. Elizabeth Olsen (!), Cherry Jones (!!), Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson, and Wren Schmidt round up the cast of Marc Abraham's film. I Saw the Light opens on November 27th.
Between this and Crimson Peak, Loki is going to be mighty busy this Fall, don't you think?

He may be better than Cumberbatch or Eddie. Likable and versatile actor.
Cannot wait ... the movie with George Hamilton as Williams was less than good for a story as Hank's was....
He has a third movie coming out, too. "High Rise", which looks like a thriller, maybe with a sci-fi touch.
I love watching him, he's such fun, so full of energy, and commitment. The other two films may show the versatility of the Williams movie.
And Cherry Jones is in this? Let's start clearing a spot for her in Supporting Actress.
Hiddleston is an actor that I've yet to fully "get". The only time I've ever thought he was really, really good was in Archipelago, where he's carefully cast as a low-key, sensitive, upper-middle class , highly educated young man....which is pretty much exactly what he is in real life. In that one role, he brings more emotional shading than to any other I've ever seen from him, probably he doesn't have to worry about "performing". But he's absolutely dire in The Deep Blue Sea and Only Lovers Left Alive. And merely okay in Saturday cartoon villain mode as Loki.
