Body of Evidence (1993)
Madonna has just tied Willem Dafoe's arms together and tossed him on her bed. This movie is legitimately and legendarily terrible. And contains possibly the most unintentionally hilarious Julianne Moore line reading of all time. "What are those marks on your back. Are they... bites?" or some such. Ridiculous.
[Voiceover] Stop looking so grim. You're beautiful without clothes on."
Alice (1990)
In this sequence of a comedy that riffs on Alice in Wonderland in the loose way that Blue Jasmine riffed on A Streetcar Named Desire, Alec Baldwin and Mia Farrow are dancing in spotlight as multiple arguments and conversations they've had play over them as soundtrack. At the time I remember thinking Mia Farrow deserved an Oscar nomination (she was Globe nominated and won the NBR) but I admit that I barely remember the movie so who knows if that's true. One of a gazillian nominations for Woody Allen in the Screenplay category with Oscar.

Married to the Mob (1988)
One of La Pfeiffer's very best. She was Globe nominated but her co-stars Mercedes Ruehl and Dean Stockwell reaped the critics prize, Stockwell the Oscar nomination.

Sorry Nat I don''t like MTTM,I like my Pfeiffer blonde.
La Pfeiffer is pfabulous in MTTM. There really are *so* many ways this project could've gone all sorts of wrong, but with her gamely conviction and Jonathan Demme's steady, steady hand (tone and pacing), MTTM seems simply content to go off the rails in only the most absurdly, winningly of ways.
I'll go to my grave absolutely adoring The Secret of NIMH, and Joanna Cassidy never was sexier than in Under Fire that same year.
Married to the Mob is so enjoyable with La Pfeiffer playing against type (and nailing it!), Byrne's soundtrack, those tacky sets and Ruehl in all her craziness.
Mia definitely deserved a nod for Alice. She also does some of the best Woody-surrogate acting in it.
I watched Body of Evidence not too long ago, just to see how terrible it is, and it is a horrendous movie.
Drew was in I Miss You Already earlier this year, which was sort of slight, but had the definite benefit of giving both her and Toni Collette some decent (if old-hat) material to chew on.
Julianne Moore: When she's good, she's great and absolutely deserving of her Oscar. When I've seen her be bad, she's TERRIBLE, bordering on female Nic Cage.
