"Wonder Woman" Gets More Promising

Chris here. Among the seemingly endless barrage of horrors, 2016 has also been the year that gave us two DC filmic trainwrecks. Next year however Warner Bros. will be able to turn that around in equal measure with Wonder Woman and Justice League (and, oh yeah, The LEGO Batman Movie). While we're less optimistic about Justice League, the goods on Wonder Woman keep getting better and better.

These new posters send clear strong messages to the fanboy hoardes ready to trash a female superhero picture. Maybe we'll even get more in this series with the captions YAAAS, QUEEN, and SLAY. For my money, we have enough "power" and "courage" at the movies, but Woman just might make good on that "wonder" promise. Check out the new trailer below...

Oh dear. Gal Gadot with a sword dress. Witty British lady sidekick. WWI. I may need to see this...

Well, that was (sigh). Those posters almost hit the right tone, but the first thirty seconds of THAT trailer, dude. A Wonder Woman movie that makes explicit that, like BvS Superman, she gave into nihilism? Yeah, I'm not feeling that. Also: I wish there was a good comic book heroine MOVIE, but I'm also not going to abandon my standards to proclaim one is good. Tank Girl (B-) is the closest thing we've got to a good one, but the rest (in order: Supergirl in 1984, Barb Wire in 1996, Catwoman in 2004 and Elektra in 2005), are on the level of stuff like X-Men Origins: Wolverine or Fant4stic. And considering who has story and script credit here? (Zack Snyder, Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, for the record.) I would, sadly, not be surprised if this joins them.

The more they make it look like Xena - the better this starts to look.

Trailer is not great but the posters are A+

I'll catch this on DVD and just pretend it's a WWI Biggles movie with the flying ace being shot down over Verdun and having fever dreams about superheroes.

You can't believe it, but the 20TH CENTURY WOMEN trailer on youtube has the same amount of misogyny as GHOSTBUSTERS!

Craver: What the hell!? I didn't exactly like the trailer, but my major question mark about it ("wow, this seems like a MASSIVE straw hippie") would stick regardless of gender.

Craver: Also: HOW did that crowd even come out to comment on THAT trailer?
