Variety names worst movies of the year including right-wing fact-free propaganda "documentaries" and movies you forgot came out this year like The Brothers Grimsby and Nina -- unfortunately they also slam Tate Donovan right and left for his direction of Girl on the Train. Leave Tate Donovan alone, Variety. He doesn't direct and he's in Manchester by the Sea this year, not that thriller. Editor? Anyone?

Passengers getting bad reviews? Called it. Still want to watch it, however, if just for Jennifer Lawrence. She makes even bad films fun.
Pratt's hawking his chichis as promotional material sure beats that generic poster.
Which is getting worse reviews Passengers or Collateral Beauty? To think they were in the Oscar conversation before anyone saw them.

Actually, Nathaniel, Tate Donovan IS a director - he's directed a lot of bad TV.
That Variety pan of Kate Plays Christine is embarrassing. He doesn't even get the movie.
Tate Taylor's direction in The Girl of the Train was mediocre, but worst of the year? There's been so much worse.
Loving Jen Yamato's Top 10. 2016 has been a wonderful year for horrors/thrillers and her list reflects that without excluding more mainstream choices. And what a wonderful year that mainstream choices include American Honey and Moonlight.
If you love horror and haven't found a way to see Train to Busan, you're missing out. Amazing. Yamato's description and praise is spot on.
